She is very slender, a result of having good genes and a mother who encouraged her to eat like a bird from a very young age. Her hair is a beautiful blonde to match his blue eyes, these are a result of her distant vela heritage that Ella swears is not much more than a family myth now, because the blood is so watered down with wizarding blood. She has a fairly round face, with a large smiles that is almost disproportionate to the rest of her features. A small pointed chin allows the face to take an almost heart shaped formation rather than purely round.
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS: Ella is a skilled reader, having been taught that it is ladylike to read poetry and epics from a young age. She is also skilled in playing the piano and the viola. She can curtsey well and is skilled in the intricacies of running a household and managing the staff.
MAGICAL SKILLS: As a Ravenclaw Ella excelled in her magical studies, particularly enjoying charms and potions when she was at Hogwarts. Since graduating her focus has been more on household spells and spells to help her with her hair and makeup, most of which have been taught to her by her mother, and her nannyelf (the house elf which served as her nanny when she was young, and since followed her to Hogwarts). She is able to make useful household potions as well as potions for mild illnesses (and a contraceptive potion, though she hasn’t allowed anyone to know that she is able to brew that one).
WEAKNESSES: Ella is guilty of partaking in the pureblood gossip circle, she knows that she ought not to, but she finds it so interesting to hear what the other purebloods may or may not have been up to. She sometimes feels the need to rebel against her pureblood status and the expectations that this brings of her, but then feels guilt at the thought of disappointing her parents.
STRENGTHS: Ella is a skilled liar when she needs to be, as the middle child of five children she learned early on how to blame certain things on her older- or younger- siblings to save herself from getting into trouble. She adores her family, being close with many of her siblings and on good terms with her parents. She is keen to please the people in her life, which is why she is able to be the perfect pureblood woman while still being able to voice her own opinion: something her older brothers taught her. She doesn’t keep up with many of her friends since she left Hogwarts, mostly because she was so busy with her engagement with Augustus. She is partial to gossiping with the ladies she works with while organising charity events and balls, she knows that she ought not to, but she enjoys the way that the pureblood ladies manage to be utterly polite and kind to someone’s face while telling stories that would disgrace them when they were not there to listen. CHARACTER HISTORY:Ellanora Mary Alderton was the third born child, and first born daughter, to Mary and Richard Alderton. She arrived three weeks early, born late August rather than early September, terrifying her mother who believed that she was having a late term miscarriage. However, despite her early arrival Ella was born perfectly healthy with ten fingers and ten toes along with a tiny head full of blonde hair. Ella had a happy childhood, she was still a toddler when her mother fell pregnant with her fourth child, another little girl, Marie, and was old enough to understand what was growing in Mummy’s tummy by the time her youngest brother Alexander was born.
Ella was very close to her two older brothers, David and Christopher while she was growing up. The three would play together, often leaving out Marie and Alexander because they were seen as ‘babies’. It wasn’t until Christopher followed David to Hogwarts that Ella became closer to her younger siblings. Being the middle child she was able to have a close enough relationship with all of her siblings, though she knew that she would never be as close to either of her older brothers as they were to one another. In the same vein they would never quite have the same relationship with Marie that Ella had.
When Ella was old enough to go to Hogwarts she was one of the youngest in her year, her mother worried that she was still too little to send away to the boarding school. She was meant to be born in September and be almost twelve before she left the nest, so to speak. Ella, however, felt more than ready to go to Hogwarts. She wanted to spend more time with her older brothers again, because they were there it didn’t feel too much like she was away from home. Ella was sorted into Ravenclaw house and was proud of this. She worked hard in her studies and maintained good grades.
She grew into a very pretty young woman who boys often sought after, however Elladora wasn’t very interested in boys, until there was one boy in particular. She was in her fourth year, still very young. But Augustus Fawley took her breath away. He had blossomed that summer: his puppy fat was gone and his shoulders were strong and wide. Boys had finally grown taller than the willowy fourteen year old. So when Augustus took an interest in her, Ella decided that she wanted to get to know him. She knew that this was against pureblood etiquette, she wasn’t meant to see any boys because her father would one day betroth her to an eligible young man and they would be married, she had to be pure for that. However that didn’t stop her and Augustus sharing stolen kisses and starting a courtship.
Of course no one could know, not her brothers, or Gus’s sister who was in the same year as Ella. They made it their little secret. Gus graduated the year before Ella, but Ella was elated to find out that when she turned seventeen- finally of age- Augustus’s father approached her father about a betrothal between the two. They kept in touch by owl for that last year, seeing each other- with a chaperone of course- during the holidays. Then after Elladora finally finished Hogwarts and took up her place in a pureblood lady charity organisation the preparations for their wedding were beginning to take place.
