♤Polaris Bayezid Fawley♤
NAME: Polaris Bayezid Fawley
AGE: 38
SOCIAL CLASS: Middle-class
STATUS: Married to Megalyn Wood
OCCUPATION: Hit Wizard
PLAY-BY: Tom Mison
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
EYES: Blue
HAIR: Brown
SKINTONE: Light
HEIGHT & WEIGHT: 6’4” & 215 pounds
DISTINGUISHING MARKS: The only remarkable thing about him is how unremarkable he really looks to the average person. He’s taller than average, but beyond that, he has no special features that would make him stand out in a crowd.
OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Polaris inherited his father’s build, and although he might not be the tallest man around, he’s big enough that he can comfortably stand in the back of most crowds and still see what’s going on at the front. He has a normal complexion that is naturally pale but tans fairly easily. Although he used to be kind of lanky as a teenager, his final growth spurt in his late teens filled him out nicely, and he’s fairly muscular now due to his work as a hit wizard.
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS: He has a knack for finding things, both objects and people, that many others would miss. He claims it’s because he trusts his instincts, but his hit wizard training certainly helped develop this skill quite a bit as well. He knows how to read expressions and body language and finds that he can usually, though not always, tell what someone’s feeling and when they’re lying to him. He does seem to struggle with it more when talking to loved ones, as he can’t objectively analyze them.
MAGICAL SKILLS: Back when he was still a student at Hogwarts, Polaris excelled at DADA, passing both his O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. exams with an Outstanding grade. He was also a rather skilled duelist, and it was these talents that lead him to pursue a career in which such talents would be useful. After many years of practice and trial and error, he finally managed to conjure his first corporeal Patronus at age 21, not too long after the birth of his first child.
WEAKNESSES: He’s much more sensitive than he likes to let on, and his emotions can easily sway his mood from happy to sad within a short amount of time depending on the circumstances. He always puts his heart into everything he does, and truly, genuinely loves those that he allows to come close to him, but he struggles to express it, which makes him come across as uncaring at times. He’s very private and tends to keep his deepest thoughts to himself, feeling that he wouldn’t be able to make others understand how he feels anyway, so it’s better to not let anyone in than have them misunderstand. He is also as stubborn as a mule. If he believes his way is the right way, few people can sway him from that decision, even those closest to him might struggle with it. In the past, he’s had a somewhat rebellious streak where he, combined with his stubborn nature, did whatever he felt like doing without considering the consequences. Or rather, he did consider the consequences, he just didn’t consider them important enough to keep him from following his heart and his dreams in most cases. He’s matured over the years, but that side of him never truly went away, and he still very much follows his own path.
STRENGTHS: Because he tends to keep his feelings to himself, and he’s more introverted than the type to blurt things out, he can usually keep himself from saying the wrong things that might upset people. He by no means has a silver tongue, but he knows when to keep his mouth shut and his head down when he realizes a situation calls for it, and what to say so that he doesn’t upset people. He’s also a good listener, and very empathic. He has a very easy time relating to others as he spends a lot of time thinking on his own feelings, and how he’d feel were he to be in another’s shoes. When he does love people, be that platonic or romantic, he loves them with his entire being, and he becomes so attached to them that he’d easily give his own life for theirs, even if it doesn’t always seem like it.
QUIRKS & HABITS: He has a peculiar love for random and strange facts that are hardly ever important to know, and he tends to quietly collect these so he can break awkward silences should they occur. He suffers from a slight case of OCD when shoes are involved; they must be perfectly aligned. If one faces forward, the other can’t face backwards, and the noses need to be aligned so one isn’t further back than the other. He has been trying to kick this habit since his wife caught him sneaking out of bed one night, grumbling that he couldn’t sleep because his son had left his shoes in a messy position and the man went downstairs to fix them. When he’s nervous or in deep thought, he’ll ball his hand into a loose fist and rub his thumb along the line of his index finger, the faster he goes, the worse his mood is.
OVERALL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: In general, Polaris doesn’t consider himself to be very special. He’s just another man living his life, going to work each day in order to provide for his wife and children and occasionally checking in on his rather large family. He’s a realist who understands that certain things in life are as they are, and he doesn’t have any illusions about fixing whatever he considers broken, he just tries to not let those things bother him, and in general has a positive demeanor. And when he doesn’t, he keeps to himself well enough that others aren’t bothered by his sour mood, though some of his family members might have learned to read him as well as he reads others. He has an easy time understanding other people’s feelings, as he himself has stronger feelings than most know, and so he tends to be pleasant to be around. He might not be the most jolly person imaginable, but he doesn’t make your day worse at least, which he already considers a good trait.
Due to his wife’s position in society, and his mother’s sympathetic views towards those same groups, he’s developed a soft spot for those who are not as well off as he, and he often gives whatever he can spare to whoever he feels genuinely needs the money more than he does. He’s fiercely loyal to his loved ones, and would do literally anything for them. He’d die for them, but he’d also kill for them if need be. His devotion to his wife runs deep enough that he hasn’t even looked at other women since he met her twenty years ago. He recognizes that some women are beautiful, but none can match up to Megalyn in his eyes. He looks down on those that aren’t faithful, which sadly includes some of his own relatives, but he doesn’t voice those feelings. Instead he just quietly judges them from a distance.
He usually comes across as a silent, but friendly man who is pleasant enough to be around. He keeps to himself most of the time, but he has some rather odd traits that keep him from appearing mysterious and deep. He’s prone to making horrible dad jokes for example (Hello hungry, this is father.) and he’s surprisingly excellent company when he’s drunk, as he laughs at every single joke that’s made whether it’s funny or not. In fact, he’ll probably laugh even if you’re not joking. The flip side of that is that when he drinks too much, he becomes an emotional wreck who will cry over a glass being empty or a joke he suddenly doesn’t consider amusing any longer.

CHARACTER HISTORY: Polaris was born almost 40 years ago in St. Mungos hospital in England, as the second son of Elenore and fifth son of Micajah Fawley. From the moment he was born, the boy seemed to favor his mother, always smiling the brightest whenever she was in the room and crying the hardest when she wasn’t the one comforting him, though fortunately for his father he wasn’t much of a crybaby, and he spent most his days sleeping and eating like so many babies did. When he was two, his parents had another child, a girl named Lenore, who he immediately took a liking to due to the fact that for the first time in his young life, he was the big brother, and from the moment his mother announced she was pregnant to the moment Lenore learned how to talk, he was even more cheerful and lively than he usually was, oftentimes sneaking into his father’s closet and wearing some of his clothes for surely, having a younger sibling meant you yourself were suddenly very mature. It was also around this time he started following his older brother Cepheus around like a puppy asking to play with him, because he was big like him now. Even as he grew older though, and the whole big brother phase over Lenore let up he continued to idolize his brother for seeming like the nicest, coolest, best brother around, and Polaris was genuinely upset when his brother left for Hogwarts.
A year later, his youngest sister was born, though she passed away not too long after she drew her first breath. At the time, Polaris was too young to full understand what was going on, though he did feel sad when he was told his sister was gone. More so because of how upset his parents were than over her actual death though, as he hadn’t truly built up a bond with her yet by the time she passed. He felt sorry for them, and wished he could do something to help somehow. Being a relatively low maintenance child did seem to take some stress off his parents, and so his already quiet and withdrawn tendencies developed even further around this time. He never really mentioned Carina again unless someone else mentioned her first, feeling that not talking about her would somehow make it easier to deal with her death.
Several uneventful years passed the sad occasion in which Polaris lived the life of every young boy. He teased his sisters, brawled with his brothers, played with his friends and slowly but surely, he started to grow up from being a young child into becoming a preteen. Even though he grew older though, his affection for his mother stayed, and even seemed to grow with each passing year. He confided in her the things he didn’t share with anyone else, and would often follow her around the house just chatting to her while she went about her day. When his letter for Hogwarts came at the age of 11, he initially didn’t want to go. He was alright with never being a proper wizard, he just wanted to stay home with his family a little while longer. Eventually he was convinced though, and although he wasn’t happy the day he was put on the train, he did eventually warm up to the idea of living away from home during the school year, although he still continued to write home whenever he could. After a few months at Hogwarts, he felt himself mature at a much faster rate than he’d ever thought possible. Suddenly living a life that held a lot more responsibilities and independence made him feel more like a man, even though he was still a child at the time. And by the time he was 12 and his brother Adolphus was born, he was no longer bothered by the idea of living at Hogwarts and being away from his family. He continued to write, but not as much as he used to. His bond with his mother remained strong however.
Sadly, tragedy struck the family once more when Elenore was diagnosed with a terminal illness for which she refused to seek treatment. By the time Polaris was 14, his dearest friend and greatest confidant passed away quietly in her husband’s arms. Aside from when he’d been a baby and a small child scraping his knee or something small like that, sitting by his mother’s side for the last time was one of the few times he’d let go of his emotions for the time being and he openly cried in front of her. Just her. Even still, he’d pulled them back in check before leaving the room, assuring her he’d be fine, that he’d somehow manage to make it on his own without her. Afterwards however, he’d retreated into the room his little twin sisters were sleeping in and quietly cried there, away from prying eyes. He went back to school faster than most of the other children, assuring everyone that he was alright, that he missed his mother but that he was alright, and that she’d want him to move on. No one could’ve known at the time that her death would haunt him all the way into adulthood, and that he never truly stopped grieving her loss.
The years after were spent as most students spent their days. He continued to live at Hogwarts, attending classes and making plans for the future. Throughout the years, Polaris had shown a special affinity for DADA classes as well as dueling, and although it hadn’t been his dream growing up, he ended up really liking the idea of becoming an auror someday in order to contribute to society in a productive and honorable way. Sadly, that dream never came true due to decisions he’d make near the end of his school days.
By his 17th year, he went out with friends one night to celebrate the nearing end of school at the Leaky Cauldon. It was there that he met his current wife, Megalyn Wood, a lower class halfblooded woman whose family held a rather poor reputation. Polaris didn’t care for any of that though. From the moment he met the girl, who was only one year his junior, he felt smitten. It wasn’t something he could explain properly, and so he didn’t try. Megalyn simply made him forget about some of his childhood traumas, if only for a short time, simply by being there. He enjoyed talking to her, but enjoyed listening to her even more. She could make him laugh when most others got only a chuckle out of him, and he felt more free in her presence than he’d ever felt before in his life. In many ways, he believed Megalyn brought out the best parts in him, and by the time he graduated from Hogwarts, he went to visit her for the umpteenth time since first meeting her, ring in hand and popping down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage, to which she said yes. Polaris never bothered to ask his father’s permission or even his blessing for his impending wedding, knowing full well that his father wouldn’t approve of his decision. He didn’t care. Not enough to pass up a woman he genuinely cared for. He was willing to risk whatever reaction he’d get when his father found out eventually. Megalyn’s parents on the other hand were quite thrilled to have him as a son in law and were most welcoming.
Despite objections from his family and friends, Polaris married Megalyn not too long after he’d proposed to her, and although things were tense between his father and he at the time, he still felt it was one of the best days in his life. He’d started applying for a job as an auror not too long after he’d gotten engaged, and although he had the credentials that should’ve landed him the position with ease, his decision to marry down into a family with a bad reputation had hurt his chances severely. His integrity was questioned, and another man was chosen for the job instead. Although the rejection had hurt him, he still didn’t let anything on to his wife or his relatives, and simply applied for a less prestigious job as a hit wizard, for which he did get hired. It wasn’t his dream job, but it came close enough, and at least he made enough money to be able to provide for his family, which was all the motivation he needed.
With his new job, he was able to start building his family, even if he at the time couldn’t afford much as a freshly graduated young man. After living with Megalyn’s parents for a short while, he ended up finding a medium sized house that he couldn’t afford at the time. Thankfully the landowner took pity upon him, and allowed the young man to pay off the dept in terms, on the condition that the old man himself could continue to live in the house as well, at least for a time. Polaris agreed to the offer. Not too long after settling into their new home, Megalyn revealed she was pregnant. Although he felt nervous about the idea of being a father, Polaris also felt a great deal of excitement over the prospect of truly having a family that was entirely his. The months felt like years while the family anxiously awaited the arrival of their first child, and during this time their houseguest, Albert, proved to be a welcome guest as he frequently helped around the house and kept Megalyn company whenever Polaris was away on a job. After nine months, Megalyn gave birth to a healthy baby boy, whom they named Augustine. Although there had been no complications during the pregnancy or the delivery, Polaris still took a few days off to stay with his wife and son before returning to work.
As the years passed by, Polaris grew closer to Albert, finding in him a friend of sorts who carried his own weight in the household, and when Megalyn became pregnant with their second child, the two men came to a different agreement regarding the situation with the house. Whatever dept remained was considered paid off, so long as the old man could stay with the family until his death, and he received an allowance each month so he could still do the things he enjoyed. With the burden of having to pay off the house partly removed, Polaris felt a weight fall off his shoulders, and where he had first been worried about whether he could provide for a second child or not, he was now as excited as he’d been with Augustine. Their second child was born a little early, but without too many complications. This time, the family welcomed a girl into their family, named Asteria. From the moment she’d been born, Polaris felt extremely protective over her, knowing full well that girls held different positions in society than boys, and even when she was just a baby he hoped and prayed that he’d be able to ensure she lived a happy life.
Their final child, Aloysius, was born three years after his sister, and much like with the first two, his birth went relatively smoothly, although Megalyn did feel weakened for a time after giving birth to the child. She recovered within a few months, but even still, Polaris talked her out of having another child, telling her she had given him enough children and that he wouldn’t let her risk her health by trying to give him another. The family felt complete in his eyes anyway with two strapping lads and one precious lady. Eventually she agreed, and spent the years following Aloysius’ birth enjoying their little family. Polaris got a promotion two years after his son’s birth, and although he still couldn’t be considered as wealthy as he’d once been living with his parents, the family could live relatively comfortable lives off the money he made. As the years passed, one by one the nest grew empty throughout most of the year as one by one, the children started attending Hogwarts and boarded there for most of the year. To make up for the emptiness, Polaris bought his wife a dog and himself a cat to keep things lively around the place. Aside from the occasional payment raise here and there, nothing truly eventful happened after his last child left for Hogwarts. Polaris is still working as a hit wizard, and he’s still happily married to his wife. Albert still lives with the family and has become almost like an uncle to both Polaris and his children, and a dear friend to Megalyn. Although the differences he had with his father Micajah have watered down over the years, there is still some tension between Megalyn and some of his relatives, but by now he’s come to terms with the fact that he can’t force a positive relationship between anyone, and so he tries to simply keep the fact in mind whenever the family gets together.

Polaris nervously eyed his wife and daughter from across the table, hardly noticing that his dinner was probably cold by now. It had been something Megalyn had said a few minutes ago that had sent him into somewhat of a panic. He couldn't even fully recall the conversation that had lead to her informing her husband that their daughter was indeed almost a grown woman, and not a little girl anymore. Something about dresses and boys, he really couldn't remember. It was all irrelevant anyway. Megalyn was right, Asteria was growing up, and entirely too fast for his liking. Soon enough he'd have to threaten whatever boy she introduced to him, informing the lad (Merlin's beard let it be a lad and not an old man) that if he broke his daughter's heart, he'd break his. With his bare hands. No one, not the women who were happily chatting, nor the other men at the table who were too occupied with stuffing their faces noticed Polaris' change in behavior, but it was definitely there. His mood had gone from fairly merry to absolutely horrified when realization dawned down on him. How had he not come to this conclusion himself? Perhaps it was only natural for men to be oblivious of these things. To him, Asteria had never truly stopped being that little girl with the pigtails playing with her dolls and pouring him invisible tea. She had just gotten a little taller, that's it. If only it had been that.
A million thoughts raced through his mind, and he awkwardly fumbled with his thumb while staring almost eerily at his two ladies. What if she decided she wanted to be an adult right now rather than wait until she was seventeen? What if the man she married didn't treat her well? What if some ancient snob decided he wanted himself a nice young lady and somehow Asteria would agree to it? Would he allow her to do as she pleased? Would he get angry and tell her to marry someone else? He'd always told himself he wouldn't grow up to be his father. His children would get his full support no matter what choices they made in life, but now that he considered all the potentially horrible scenarios his child could find herself in, he suddenly felt like he'd found a whole new understanding of his own father that he'd never felt before.
"Please excuse me..." he announced quietly as he put his fork down, and stood up somewhat rigidly "I need some air..."
