Abigail Blake
Hi folks! This little cutie is Abigail, and she is looking for a family. A Mummy and a Daddy or a single Mummy or a single Daddy, just someone to love her and give her a nice home. Abby is a very happy and very excitable five year old who is full of energy. She’s full of love and kindness, and is just looking for someone to share it with. So here’s a little bit about Abby and how she ended up as an orphan at Blake’s and has been so for almost eighteen months
CHARACTER HISTORY: Abigail was born in early September when all of the leaves were turning red, and russet and orange. Her mother still swears that the time of year was where her baby got her colouring. She was born milky white with a little tuft of ginger hair sticking up at all angles. Anne loved her baby the second that she laid eyes on her, and wanted to do everything that she could for her child. Unfortunately her husband Hamish suffered from the devils sickness of drink. When he got his wages on a Friday night he would go and spend half of them- sometimes all of them- in the pub rather than bringing them home to his wife so that the family would be able to eat that week.
When Abby was scarcely a year old Hamish got into some trouble with the law. He’d gotten into a fight at the pub, and ended up smashing a pint glass over the head of a man he had had a dispute with. The man survived, but he had severe brain damage and would have to live in a mental institution for the remainder of his life. For his crime Hamish was put on trial and sentenced to imprisonment in Azkaban.
Shamed and horrified Anne was left alone with a baby to care for. Both her parents were long dead and Hamish’s family had disowned them, she had nothing. So she took the little savings that she had and travelled with her daughter to London in the hopes to find a better life for them. For two years Anne struggled and fought to make ends meet, she would do odd jobs where she could find them, clean in pubs during the day, pick berries when they were in season. Anne did everything that she could to keep a roof over their head and food in Abigail’s belly. Sadly this meant often depriving herself. Abigail was three and a half years old when Anne could feel herself slipping away. The winter had been a harsh one, and Anne had been coughing up blood. Tuberculosis, she knew that she couldn’t be cured. When she left that she was at her weakest Anne took her toddler to Blakes Orphanage. She had barely made it through the door before passing out.
The Blakes brought her to the infirmary and tried to sooth the distraught toddler. Anne woke up long enough to eat a small bowl of soup and to tell the matron her and Abigail’s story. She made the woman promise to find her baby a good home. A better home. Three days later she slipped away in her sleep.
Despite the loss of her family so young Abigail was a beautifully bright and vibrant child. She was fully of energy and excitement, always wanting to make new friends and go on new adventures before she finds her new family.
