Dennis Abraham Glentree
NAME: Dennis Abraham Glentree
AGE: 73
SOCIAL CLASS: Upper Class
STATUS: Widowed
OCCUPATION: Deputy Headmaster of Hogwarts
PLAY-BY: Donald Sutherland
BLOOD STATUS Pureblood
EYES: Blue, icy eyes that can pierce into somebody's soul.
HAIR: White, lionlike hair that goes into his beard.
SKINTONE: Pale and wrinkling skin.
HEIGHT & WEIGHT: A hefty old man at 6' 1" and 279 lbs.
DISTINGUISHING MARKS: He has many wrinkles and a big beard.
OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Dennis has a hefty, round look about him. You can tell that he has lived a very long and enjoyable life with his deep laugh lines and wrinkles that show happiness and gratitude. He wears clothing that is dressy, yet comfortable. He enjoys wearing very vibrant, colorful ties when forced to fully dress up.
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS: Dennis has a very good way with children. He loves watching them smile and run around and play. He often, when seeing children playing in the streets of Diagon Alley or on Muggle streets in London, will buy them an ice cream cone or some candy. He is also a very humble man in his old age and is very kind. He has a way of remaining calm during the most chaotic times in life. He is very wise. He learned a lot by experience of his life. He has a way of letting all of his worries go and being able to think about the more happy ways of life. This man was very handy back in the day, but not much anymore. Dennis is a very skilled chess player, perfecting his skills and logic over the years. He is also quite smart in many aspects of life, after learning how to live through life to his best.
MAGICAL SKILLS: (I'll register for these later, and if I am denied, disregard the ones that were denied.) Dennis, over the years, has spent much time perfecting his magic. He is very skilled in charms, defense magic, potions, transfiguration, and in his younger days, he used to have a knack for quidditch as a chaser. And, after he felt he had mastered enough of advanced magic skills in his mid 30s, he began to dabble in even more advanced magic, then started to learn in it very much so. He started to practice wandless magic and wordless magic, and be came very good at both, separately of course. He did try becoming an animagus, but failed and eventually gave up on it.
WEAKNESSES: Over the years, Dennis has showed that he was very ambitious, but if he failed at something, he would just give up. After a while, this made the man become very humble and forgiving of others. Dennis can be very stubborn in some matters and can not let up or change his mind. He is often a sucker for sweet things, and tends to be over lenient to sweet girls who break school rules, as they remind him of his daughters. But, on the other hand, he can be very strict towards boys who are of 5th year or higher, as he sees them as young men and they should act accordingly. Dennis gets distracted easily when he is on task. Dennis is also very forgetful of items when he goes places. Sometimes, you can see him wandering the halls, bare foot because he has seemed to have forgotten his shoes in his office.
STRENGTHS: Dennis is very kind when not scolding. He is also a very humble soul. This man notices his short comings and weaknesses and tries to usually pick staff and prefects based on his weaknesses and their strengths. He is a very smart and wise man. He is also a good listener and is somebody that you could go to if you had a problem. No problem was too big or small. Dennis always loves to treat each student as if they are his own child, and he may be forgetful of items, but he always seems to remember the names and likes and dislikes of each student, as well as some of their strengths and weaknesses. Dennis loves to treat Hogwarts as his home, and often sits in on some classes. Some people may think he is too busy to do things like this, but her purposefully makes time. He is a very caring man. He also doesn't see the need to discriminate in blood statuses, as he married a Muggleborn himself.
QUIRKS & HABITS: Dennis tends to demonstrate himself as a very laid back man, but a very good listener that can give good advice through his wisdom. He tends to be forgetful of many items, and needs to be reminded of them. He used to have a remeberball (what are they called? XD) but, he started forgetting that too. Dennis loves to make himself at home at Hogwarts and sometimes sits in on his staff's lessons and may walk around in his pajamas everyone once in a rare while.
OVERALL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Dennis is overall a very humble, wise, caring old man that is starting to get comfortable in his old life. He may be a bit sexist, but he was raised that way. He has his way with children and enjoys their company. He is very forgetful and tends to not remember to grab things and has to be reminded of meetings and what not, but remembers the names and personality of all the students in Hogwarts. He enjoys helping these students out with their problems, no matter how big or small, he is there for them. Dennis is very against blood purity discrimination. He also lives in the school as if it is his home and abode. He loves interacting with the other people who stay in the castle and loves watching the lessons.
BIRTH PLACE: London, England
PARENTS: Abigail and George Glentree (Both Deceased)
SIBLINGS: Mary, Katherine, Andrew, Gregory, and Mathias Glentree. (All died at birth.)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Lucille Glentree née. Hall (Deceased)
CHILDREN: Mary Anne (50, Married); Patricia (50, Married); and Amy Lynn Glentree (Deceased at age of 12 in house fire, would be 50).
OTHERS: Grandchildren.
CHARACTER HISTORY: Dennis was the one and only child not born dead in the Glentree household. He would have been the eldest of six children, but sadly, his mother stillborn all the rest of his younger siblings. He would also be the only one to carry the Glentree name, as all of his cousins were females. From a young age, Dennis was raised by two middle class parents who were very strict blood purity people. They taught him how to read, write, and talk; but with that they also filled his mind with pure blood propaganda and Dennis believed them for a very, very long time, that was, until he went off to Hogwarts.
At Hogwarts, he was sorted into Hufflepuff, to his parent's dismay (they wanted him in Slytherin), and Dennis began taking classes. It was in his house that he met a girl in his same house and year: Lucille Hall. She was part of an upperclass Muggle family. At first, Dennis was wary of her, as she was a Muggleborn and his parents had warn him about Muggleborns. It was mainly curiosity that Dennis decided to talk to her anyways. He found out that he and the girl had many of the same interests and the two became friends, but Dennis did not dare tell his parents.
Each year the two got closer and closer, until during the middle of their seventh year, both decided that they wanted to marry each other. That Christmas the two brought up their friendship and how they now loved each other to both of their families and both families disliked the idea greatly. Dennis' for her being Muggleborn, and Lucille's for Dennis being Middle Class and not Upper Class. But, both of them wanted to be wedded anyways, and for choosing who they loved in their marriage, both were disowned by their families after they married each other the day after the left Hogwarts.
Both of them were forced into the Lower Class. Dennis was instantly out, looking for work and got his first job as an assistant for the Nurse at Hogwarts. It was a job he hated, but it put dinner on the table for him and Lucille. Eventually, through his hard work, Dennis was promoted to Art teacher, then Charms professor. Then, Lucille and him were Middle Class and had a nice house on the outskirts of London, life couldn't be better. Not to mention there was a baby on the way.
On August 3rd, Lucille gave birth to three healthy triplet girls. It was a sight to see, rarely when one gave birth to multiple children at once did they live, and these three miraculously did. The girls' names were Mary Anne, Patricia, and Amy Lynn. Dennis instantly became infatuated with his three little girls and loved them more than anything. It was also around this time that Dennis accepted the offer to be Head of Hufflepuff, and continue climbing the occupations ladder. Then, as the three girls grew older, two started to show signs of magic. First it was Patricia, with making pots and pans fall out of the cupboards when she angered over her doll being broken. Then, it was Mary Anne with a bookshelf falling down the stairs after she was scolded for tracking mud into the house. Amy Lynn never did show signs of magic, though, and by the age of 8, she was the only one not to show any drop of magic in her blood. And by the age of 11, it was confirmed that Amy Lynn was a magicless child, but that didn't stop wither of her parents from loving her with all their hearts' content.
When the triplets were 12, Dennis was then promoted to Deputy Headmaster, as the former one had quit. He was surely climbing the ropes of his career and was able to move his family to a new house, and now be considered Upper Class. Better yet, Lucille was pregnant again! Everything was seeming great, until the day her got an urgent owl stating that there had been a fire at his new house and his wife and Amy Lynn had not been able to make it out. Dennis called his two daughters that were at Hogwarts with him to his office and took them to the burnt down house. The three remaining Glentrees stood in utter silence as they knew that they would never see Lucille or Amy Lynn again.
Dennis fell into an utter depression over this and turned himself into eating lots of food and burying himself in work. He made sure that he saw his other two daughters every day since then, and always tried to comfort them. Once Mary Anne and Patricia graduated, Dennis told them about how he had met their mother and how they fell in love and married for love. He gave them his agreement on allowing them to marry who they wished, and both of them did. They even had a joint wedding with two men that they both truly loved.
After that, Dennis ate a lot and worked extremely hard again, mostly because he began to feel lonely. He began to gain lots of weight, which was a sign of being wealthy, right? Anyways, he did become rather fat, which toned down a bit as he got older. He then started to slow down and live his life as he does now--thankful for everything he has.
