CHARACTER HISTORY:
Arianne was the first born daughter, born four years after her older brother Frederic. She was a happy young child. She spent most of her time outdoors and with the animals. She loved living on the farm and being surrounded by nature. She heard stories about those that lived in big cities and didn't understand why anyone would want that. Why live in such close quarters to your neighbors? Their neighbors were a ten minute walk away at least. She spent a lot of time with her mother, learning how to cook and clean and knit. She idolized her mother, wanting to be just like Emily when she was older.
Her father, however, was her hero. He could do anything and fix anything. He was always the first one to help her if she got hurt. He was the one to carry her back to the house when she broke her arm playing in the yard when she was six. He was the one to teach her how to care for the animals and tend the fields. She used to tag along behind him and Frederic as they worked and was never afraid of anything. She once helped her father birth a calf and wasn't grossed out once. She was so excited to watch a new life enter the world.
When Pierre was born, she thought he was her baby and looked after him. Their parents were amused and she had to get "the talk" at an early age. She spent many years looking after Pierre anyways. And then when the next three were born, she was an excellent big sister. She was constantly trying to keep them out of trouble, on top of keeping her grades under control and helping with the housework.
When she was eighteen, robbers came to steal the animals away from the farm and then tried to threaten the children to get away. Cain protected his family but it cost him his life. He was injured and they couldn't get him to the hospital to fix his wounds. Arianne didn't handle his death well. She had been a good girl her entire life but had a brief time where she spiraled out of control. She went to the village and drank and made a lot of bad choices with even worse men. When she realized that she and Pierre had both began to act out and the strain it put on their mother, she pulled herself together and did whatever she could to help out.
A harsh winter came and hit the farm harder than she had ever seen. They nearly lost several animals to the cold. With the stress of Cain's passing and the intensity of the winter, their mother couldn't take it and fell ill. She died shortly after, devastating the family even more. Ari did everything she could to keep it together but she slipped up a few times. She did what she could to help Frederic talk some sense into Pierre but they had no luck. He ended up in jail for a few months before Arianne was able to convince her brother to bail him out.
Eventually Fred and his wife left the farm to live on their own and suddenly the responsibility increased and Ari was almost at a breaking point. That was when she met Leon. He worked in the market in the village and he was a couple years older than her and very charming. She fell for him instantly. He had a smile that just melted his heart. She wanted to marry him from the moment they met. They spent quite a bit of time together and even reached a point where he was staying at the farm more often than not. Arianne was twenty two when she realized she was pregnant with his child. She had never been so happy but he didn't feel the same. He spent two nights in the village and she was worried he would leave her. He came back and stayed for the first five months but the responsibility was too much for him to handle and he took off before Remy was even born. She had him in the winter and nearly didn't make it through labor but they both survived and she loved that little boy more than anything in her entire life.
She and Pierre took care of things around the farm from then on and they looked out for each other. He became the closest thing Remy had to a father and she often found the little boy tagging along behind his uncle the same way she used to with their father. It made her very proud of the man her brother had become.
