To my cousin, Pierre Moreau , I hear that Ma has set you up we' an owl so that you can keep in touch we’ us we’out haeing to send some poor messenger lad. Though we both ken that you’re aye the one who has to play messenger, so this will likely be guid for you! Nathaira and I went back to school the day. I must admit, the winter break aye goes faster than I’d like. Still, it won’t be long afore Nathy and I are done we’ school and can get back to you lot back hame. I must admit, I do miss the peace and quiet of the countryside when I’m stuck in this castle with so many others. You canny even imagine the noise, and it’s nothing like the cows and chooks oot in the gardens neither, it’s human noise. Still, I hope that all is well in your neck o’ the woods and that aye the cousins are going well. How are the weans fairing at school? With love, Eilidh Translation to Queens English: To my cousin, Pierre, I hear that Mother has set you up with an owl so that you can keep in touch with us without having to spend some poor messenger boy. (Pierre writes like his mother in Queens English)
Little Strawberry,
Your mother has indeed be so kind to borrow us an owl. Only I fear for the wee-lad’s sake, wondering if he can carry the letter all the way to your school. But you are right not having to play messenger boy saves me a nap during the day.
You will get used to it again. Try to find some quiet places you can retreat to. Enjoy your days at school, Eili. I still regret getting kicked of my school. Yours still sounds a lot more interesting though. Making stuff fly? Turning things into other things? That is just wicked. Cannot wait till we have you two back, moving around. Take care of yourself. If I heard something happens to you I’ll keep nagging your brother until he both takes us to where you are.
Big hug,
Pierre

Pierre,
Dinnae fear too much for my wee owl, Aggie, for – to quote a muggle – ‘though she be but little she is fierce’. She will manage to get our letters back and forth. Though perhaps rather than taking forty winks, you’d be better going out on the farm and getting some work done!
I get by at school, it’s not like I wish to be a scholar like Nathaira. I like ma fellow classmates, and it’s aye fairly interestin’, but I miss the air o’ home. There’s plenty o’ turning things intae other things, but I’m not awfy good at it. Making things fly – that I’m much better at. Can even make myself fly. If you’re lucky I might be able to convince Ma to let me take you flying!
Keep bothering the boys, lazy so-and-so’s they are!
Missing you, Eilidh.

Strawberry,
Oh, it is a girl I never would have guessed. She is a tiny but fierce lass, huh? Reminds me of your mother. And do not judge me on taking naps, I do most of the work around here. The naps are a well deserved payment.
Just keep in mind you could always do worse. As long as you are passing your are doing fine enough. At least that was the way I saw it till they kicked me off. Do not tell Ari I said that. Is the air that different? The school is still in Scotland, right? It is just a couple of months. Let us celebrate with pancakes when you return. Strawberry pancakes! Not sure on the flying thing, kiddo. Perhaps if we secure it with enough straw to catch a possible fall. Try to enjoy your time at Hog- something. It will be over sooner than you think.
Take care
Miss you too,
Pierre

Pierre,
Ma tells me that you’ve been getting into bother in town again, haven’t you thought of the weans? Don’t make me send Alasdair over to you to knock some sense into you! Honestly, drunk as a skunk and flirting with the locals!
Don’t make me jealous that I’m not there to have a nip or two with you!- keep that to yerself in aw’! I dinnae want Alasdair and Da on my case. It’s more Nathaira who they ought to be keeping an een on in any case.
I’m passing in school, and aye we’re still in Scotland, not sure where though. Somewhere way up in the highlands I’d guess. Nae sea to be seen for miles around. Go enjoy some of the beautiful salt air for me!
Give kisses to the cousins, Eilidh

Strawberry,
The children are probably used to a lot worse if they manage to survive in that place. Oi! Don't pretend like the local girls don't enjoy me. They're the ones approaching me as I just try to relax at the bar. It's just their das that don't like it. I'll never harm a soul, you know that.
You'll get that nip if you pass this year, I'll treat you. You know I can keep a secret, I'll most likely forget it until I read this letter again. Actually I think it's best if we kept an eye out for the both of you.
Will do. You enjoy your highlands or wherever you are.
Oh! Before I forget, you'd never guessed what happened to me. I just happened to find a random lad in our fields. Probably due to the storm but he doesn't even remember who he is. It's really weird.
They sent their kisses back along with a tight hug from me,
Pierre

Pierre,
I’m sure that the local lassie’s are well enamoured by your charm. Their da’s may take their farmers rifles to you if you don’t treat them well, though! I just have a vested interest in seeing your lanky arse alive!
I’m looking forward to that nip, I’ll tell you. How are things on the farm? Enough firewood to keep all yerselves warm?
A random lad, eh? Any joy on finding out who he is? Is he fair o’ face? Shall I come o’er to hae a look at him?
With love, Eilidh

Strawberry,
I'll make sure that doesn't happen. I treat the lassie's well. Besides they know what they're getting into when approaching me for a fun night. I've a reputation, you know? And don't worry, I'll write in my testament that they lay me down with my arse up so you can look at it one last time. You know you want to.
Things are fine. I think we'll manage just try to measure it out well. It saves that Fred and his wife are gone. Two less mouths to feed. Still no feast meal like at your school. Still it's good enough apparently, little Remy is growing like cabbage.
Yeah we still have no clue. Gave him da's name temporarly till he'd figure out his own. 've been taking him around the farm, the goats like him. Oh he is very fair, handsome even. You might like him. Little shy bugger but he'll come by.
Kisses,
Pierre

Pierre,
Please dinnea write such nonsense in your Last Will and Testaments. You’ll end up having the Minister burn yer body because he thought that you were leaving yer arse open for satan or some other rubbish of the like.
I’m sorry to hear that Fred and Mhari are gone, good people they were, but two less mouths to feed is aye good in winter. Give little Remy a kiss from me, then another when he tries to squirm away fae the first.
A handsome farm boy on yer lands. Course he had to wait til I was back at school afore showing up, the worst luck I have! Still, perhaps if I come by after I’m done for the summer I can help him remember. We’re working on memory charms at the moment, and they’re my best class, I’ll hae you know.
Love, Eils

Little Berry,
No worries I wouldn't let that happen. I'd rather have you kiss me good bye on my face cheeks instead of my arse cheeks. And there is noway anyone in that village would come because they'd miss me. They all only see the bad you did. Ah well the girls would miss my good kisses.
Not sure how to feel about Fred. Never got along with him very well but he did eventually bail me out which I am thankful for. I suppose I've never realized he was only trying to be a good big brother. Little Remy threw his fists in the air and gibbered something. I suppose he sends his love back.
Not from the lands himself, I suppose. His hands are very soft and gentle. Almost like a wee princess. And he is rather adorable even if he towers above me by an inch. Never thought I'd meet someone taller than me. You'll love him, he is handsome in looks and adorable in personality. Might be a good husband if he gains a little more confidence. But I'm really trying to help him out, not kidnapping him or anything. It's be great if you could help over summer. Thanks a bunch.
Love,
Pierre
