Savin must have been one of the few humans who dared venture into Downworlder Square, perhaps even one of the few humans who even knew where it was. Working in Knockturn alley had its benifits, for sure, his having a violent reputation amongst the dregs of society, that is, respected by scum, animals and criminals hardly got you far in the world but this was his lot.
He wasn't one for alternate tastes and as such was only drinking Pumpkin Scotch, a less popular alcohol choice for wizards which didn't taste at all like pumpkin but was an acid orange colour which gave it its name. He wasn't looking for a fight, per-sae only he hadn't been down here yet without somone making some offhand comment about his humanity.

Melanie had been a vampire for just over a year now. She could tell the difference between a vampire and a human without any trouble. The scents were vastly different. So when she entered the inn that night and found a man with warm blood running through his veins she couldn't help but be surprised. She could tell the other occupants in the room were just as taken aback by his presence. She got herself a drink, something just strong enough that she would feel the effects, and went to join him at his table.
"I can't decide if you're brave or just ignorant," Melanie said with a smirk as she sat across from him. "You do know where you are, don't you?" She asked, raising a curious eyebrow at him.

"Maybe I am scary enough to feel at home here." He replied with a smile, accent still thick though he was feeling oddly chatty, perhaps it was the scotch. He'd have to guess the beautiful girl who'd sat across from him must be a vampire or else she'd be a meal here. He sat up to face her properly, offering his hand for hers - a proper introduction, intending to kiss her hand over the table. "You are more out of place here than me," He pointed out, "But we are not always what we seem." He added.
He watched her carefully, little girl or not she was dangerous and while she looked a little younger than him she could be hundreds of years old. It was an interesting prospect, this devil girl, and he wondered if he could get her into his bed - she wouldn't be, or shouldn't be concerned about reputation like the human ladies all were, especially because she might have already written him off as a meal.

Melanie smirked at his reply and took a drink, looking him over. She leaned over the table a bit and lowered her voice. "You don't look that scary to me." She set her glass on the table and placed her cold hand in his. If he hadn't figured out what she was by now, the temperature of her skin would surely tip him off. "I assure you that I'm exactly where I should be." She told him with a wink. "So what brings you into the devil's lair?" She asked curiously, glancing around at the other occupants. The pub was filled with monstrous men who were eyeing him like a hungry dog would stare down a steak. And yet there he sat as though none of it bothered him. She briefly wondered if he worked in the ministry and had enough skill to keep him unconcerned with the threats around him. That thought sent a chill down her spine. If he was a ministry man, then he knew her father. She kept the smirk on her face despite her concerns and took another drink.

"And you don't look scary either," He told her with a smirk, lightly kissing the back of her hand before letting his hand fall away. Savin considered her for a moment before raising his glass. "The most exhilarating drink you'll ever have." He said, briefly looking over his shoulder at the hungry monsters in the pub, they would stare at him, as a meal or a threat or simply an enigma, he came down here as an outcast of society, the best of the worst and the worst of the best. He liked it down here, away from his hateful family and the general scum of society, and there was proof right in front of him that there were pretty girls everywhere.
"And what brings you here, pretty girl?" He asked her, "other than a drink?" He said with a smirk, he knew vampires could, if they chose to, blend in with the night life of humanity and she certainly looked like she would fit in better with the high-society-humans at a grand party than sitting next to a poor man like him in a pub. But wait... He frowned as he looked at her, she was somehow familiar. He'd think on it a while.

"It's part of the charm to lure men in to the dark side," she assured him with a grin, flashing her teeth at him. Obviously he knew where he was so it shouldn't be a surprise to him that she was a vampire. Unless he really was stupid. She tapped her chin thoughtfully at his question. "It's comfortable. Dangerous, yes. But not the same sort of danger I face out in the real world. There's a sense of...belonging." She leaned against her hand and smiled at him. "What's your name?"

"I'm already there my dear," He said, not reacting to her toothy smile, his suspicions confirmed. There was something undeniably alluring about her. And still something maddengly familliar, as id he recognized her from somewhere, Hogwarts would be her first thought, but her outward age said nothing about her actual age at all, though her familiarity made him suspect she was only recently turned, her worried about the dangers of humans made him wonder as well, the handful of vampires he'd spoken to would never admit to feeling threatened by humans. "Savin Rusakov," He said, searching her expression for any sign that she knew him, "And yours?" He asked.

Melanie smirked and raised her glass to him before she took a long swig. It didn't really do anything, there was no burn down her throat. Just the taste and the familiarity of the action. She listened to his name which seemed familiar. Her brow creased as she tried to remember where she heard it. He was still quite young so maybe they were school mates. She didn't question it however. "I'm Melanie." She told him simply, not offering a surname. She had thought before that she should give strangers a new name, to hide her identity. But her name was all that was left of who she once was.

She knew his name, she might not be able to place it but she knew it, he'd been both prefect and head boy at school and his name stood out among the English names - not easily forgotten. And she'd told him her name was Melanie, it was enough, Melanie Rinaldi, the upperclassmen who'd gone missing from school. He was a year above her at Hogwarts, and she hadn't changed a day, no wonder she was down here, she'd surely be recognized by someone, possibly by her family. He smiled again, that mystery solved though he'd hate to scare her away by revealing that he knew her big secret... there was something very exhilarating, knowing he knew what happened to the Rinaldi's youngest daughter, he was possibly one of the only people who did.
"Such a lovely name," He said, "And tell me Melanie, how long have you been a vampire?" He wondered if she'd lie, he wondered if it was wrong to ask a vampire this - but he was curious about it, he saw little drawbacks in the lifestyle when the gains were immortality. He could see the frustrations with being seventeen forever.

Melanie smiled at him as she tried to put the pieces together. She was sure they'd gone to school together. But obviously they didn't run in the same circles otherwise she would have remembered him sooner. Then again she was never really the social type. Only when she had to be. She was much like her father that way. "Not too long actually. I've met a man who lived more years than he could probably remember. To him I must look like an infant." She explained. "I'm only 19, although I'll never look my age again. How old are you?" She asked curiously
