OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
If I were to describe Octavian's physical appearance in one word, it would be pristine. He has his family's fair features and light build, and an impeccable posture and carriage. His face is frequently graced with secretive little smirk. He's fairly slight, but also a bit toned and sporty. His hair is always combed and his appearance basically flawless, as expected of a high-class boy from a prominent family. His features are somewhat sharp, though less than his family's are generally. He dresses in nice, top-of-the-line clothes and shoes.
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS:
Octavian is stealthy, sneaky, and cunning. He's an expert prankster, though at times his pranks can be more malicious than funny. As the youngest of eight children, he's been picked on quiet a bit, and developed many 'survival skills,' able to hide out without being found for hours before his patience runs out. He also plays viola, not superbly, but well enough to get by. He has a good memory, too, especially for genealogies, which he considers very important. Octavian is also very athletic and a fast runner.
MAGICAL SKILLS:
His family's darkness came out in him early on-- the boy has a knack for the Dark Arts that strikes fear into the hearts of most of his family. Once he struck his brother, Quintus, blind for three days in a burst of accidental magic. He expresses a deep interest in Occlumency, Legilimency, and Wandless Magic, along with a secret desire to become an unregistered Animagus. He's a good Quidditch player as well.
BEST/WORST CLASSES:
His best classes are Potions, Defence Against the Dark Arts (Mainly learning about the Dark Arts), and Transfiguration. He has generally good grades, but he cannot stand History of Magic and gets below-average grades in that class, an object of scorn for his family. He is also fairly good at Occlumency, less at Legilimency and Wandless Magic, but he tries. He took Divination for a year before dropping it, deciding that it was a rather stuffy subject-- though there are rumors that he learned something about his future that he didn't like.
WEAKNESSES:
He can be a bit of a bully, and thus doesn't have many friends. Also, his tendency to use harmful accidental magic when he is angered is a bit of a turn-off. He doesn't feel remorse easily, either, and what remorse he does feel he quickly will shut down. He can be a jerk, but he is also rather insecure. He is driven by a desire to be something, to do great things. Octavian also has a temper, and tends to look down on anyone he deems less than himself, including professors, often thumbing his nose at authority.
STRENGTHS:
His biggest strength is that he is very firmly set in his ways. He will stop at nothing to get what he wants-- of course, this could also be a weakness, as he will do whatever it takes, even if it involves doing something illegal or harmful. Also, he has great control over his emotions, a skill that comes with being an aspiring Occlumens. While he can be fairly aggressive, he is usually more passive-agressive, rarely flaring up in anger now that he is older, and the control he has over himself is almost terrifying. He is very strong in magic, while not especially good at book-learning, his magical skills rival many students his age and even some older students, and even as a child he exhibited a good deal of skill, finding ways to use and control his magic so that it was not always accidental, but oftentimes intentional. His brother Quintus believes that when Octavian struck him blind it was intentional, however, Octavian denies it.
QUIRKS & HABITS:
Octavian may seem the epitome of control, but when he reaches a point where he has absolutely no control over a situation, he loses that control and may act very childish. He has a habit of sneering at others, and giving himself airs as well. He claims to fear nothing, but in reality, if you were to show him a boggart it would turn into himself, poor, old, and ragged, begging on the streets, or himself lying dead. Octavian really likes his luxuries.
OVERALL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
Octavian Malfoy is a rather unpleasant boy, particularly to muggle-borns, half-bloods, and half-breeds, even though his upbringing was less stringent than many purebloods'. He decided on his purist ideals by himself, and at one point even expressed a desire to 'purge' Hogwarts of the 'filth it wallowed in.' However, he only speaks that way around other blood purists, and at all other times, while he holds himself superior, he does not act hostile.
He is proud, painfully ambitious, and devilishly cunning. If he wants something, he will get it, guaranteed. Of course, if it is absolutely impossible to get, he will throw a mini-tantrum, often not speaking to anyone. He will never, ever admit he was wrong, and he will never, ever apologize.
However, around true friends he is a much softer sort of person. While still fascinated with darkness, power, and ambition, he is, in fact, capable of friendships. Once he becomes friends with someone, true friends, they will learn that he is, in fact, a very confused and unsettled person, while having a few concrete ideals and traits, he is searching wildly for his place, clawing and fighting his way up a metaphorical ladder.
Octavian is not afraid of using foul play, and this shows as well in his Quidditch playing. On more than one occasion, the opposite team has been awarded a penalty due to one of his fouls. However, he also, if wronged in any way, will exact revenge, although usually in a subtle way, such as levitating wrong ingredients into their potions and causing them to blow up in their faces.
His life's mission is to become something great, to be distinguished from his seven siblings, and as the youngest this desire is even stronger. Despite being babied and spoiled by his mother, he was pushed and prodded by his father.
Octavian wears a mask of cold, arrogant indifference around everyone but the ones who are the very closest to him-- he does not even let the mask down around his own family, much to his doting mother's chagrin. And he hates being contradicted. Once, when his mother tried to talk to him about the dark path he seemed to be headed down, he turned to her with a bit of a threat in his eyes and stated simply that he didn't want to talk about it, in a voice so calm that it was threatening.
He is a bit of a coward, in reality, though-- the fact that he never directly confronts anyone makes that very clear. And he will change his loyalties in the blink of an eye if he feels that he can get to a higher position with different allies.

CHARACTER HISTORY:
Octavian came as a bit of a surprise-- after their twin girls, Atilius and Annaliese Malfoy weren't planning on having any more children. And, yet, two years later, Octavian came along. He was a healthy infant, and fairly well behaved.
As he grew, though, he changed. Being the youngest, he often bore the brunt of pranks and teasing, and this annoyed him. While this branch of Malfoys did not live by standards of blood purity quite as rigidly as the majority of their family, Octavian developed an idea that only purebloods should be allowed to truly participate in Wizarding society, while half-bloods were children of treason and muggle-borns weren't really even wizards at all. He shared this idea with some acquaintances.
Octavian had his first burst of accidental magic when he was three years old, one of his most harmless bursts ever. He was excessively proud that he had started earlier than most of his siblings, and continues to bring up this fact in front of them.
While a good many of his siblings get along, Octavian is a sort of black sheep. His keen fascination with the Dark Arts, instilled in him by one of his uncles at a young age, and his passion for channeling his magic and using it to harm people-- usually only a bit of stinging, but sometimes worse-- made his siblings stop bullying. He realized that magic was a source of power, and wallowed in it, glad that it made the attacks on him stop.
And then, when he was eight years old, his brothers Quintus and Tertius came up to him, cornering him and telling him that the way he used his skills was wrong and that he shouldn't do that. Angry at them for reprimanding him like that, Octavian struck Quintus blind for several days.
He was punished afterward and confined to his bedroom until he thought things over. After that, he rarely let his anger get the better of him, appearing much more well-mannered, hiding his fascination with darkness better.
All throughout the year before he would receive his Hogwarts letter, he pleaded with his parents to allow him to study abroad, at Durmstrang Academy, particularly because that school taught the Dark Arts. But his parents sensed this, and refused to allow him. Thus, he studied at Hogwarts.
He had a sort of low profile during his first year, but in his second, he sprang into action, securing himself a place on the Quidditch team and beginning a persecution of muggleborns. He had almost no friends-- the ones he had had left him with his facade of being a gentleman. He clawed his way up to a fairly popular position-- he was a good Quidditch player and a fairly well-known student, along with belonging to a prominent family. Throughout his second and third year, he became charismatic towards purebloods, and some of them joined up with him, despite the general suspiciousness surrounding him. He continued to have a passion for the Dark Arts, and once even attempted to sneak into the Restricted Section. He cannot wait to take advanced Defence so that he can get his hands on some of the darker books in the library.
He wanted to become a prefect, so he spent his fourth year trying to improve his standing with the professors, to no avail-- they recognized the darkness within him and refrained from giving him that position of power. This made him rather unhappy, and he swore to get revenge on the Headmaster and his head of house for refusing that, hoping to exact it sometime during this year.
