OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Donovan is a small young lad with bright red hair. He's a little underweight due to being underfed as a child. He's skinny and quick and can get out of situations easily. His eyes are brown and full of mischief and his smile is wide and adorable and full of innocence. His ears stick out a little bit and his hair is untamed and messy.



NON-MAGICAL SKILLS: Donovan is quick and athletic, despite his small size. He gets his excersize by always being on the move. As a child he learned the best way to avoid trouble was to outrun it. He figured he can't be punished if they can't catch him. He's also fair at spinning stories and talking really fast to distract you from what you were originally confronting him about.

MAGICAL SKILLS: Although he hasn't yet tried to fly, he would be a fair seeker. He's quick and can slip through small spaces. He's also really good at charms because he speaks very clearly and with a lot of force when casting.

BEST/WORST CLASSES: Charms is his best, potions is his worst. He's been known to add in extra ingredients out of curiosity of what what happen. It's resulted in flames and his potion boiling over on occasion.

WEAKNESSES: His curious nature is his biggest weakness. He's always looking for something new and exciting to discover, even if it's likely to get him into trouble. He has nightmares pretty often that cause him to lose sleep although he usually can't remember what they were about. He's very afraid of ghosts and avoids them at all costs. He also has a problem holding his tongue and says things he probably shouldn't.

STRENGTHS: Donovan has no problem talking to anyone he meets and greets everyone with the same friendliness, even if they don't deserve it. He likes to see the best in people which has usually turned out alright for him, although it also makes him a little too trusting at times. He's perfected an innocent smile that makes you doubt if he really did whatever you're sure he did wrong.

QUIRKS & HABITS: Donovan is into everything and always on the move. Even when he has to sit still during class or meals, he's always moving. Whether it's tapping his foot, playing with his quill, or making paper sculptures.

OVERALL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Donovan is a very curious little guy. He doesn't generally consider the consequences of his actions until he's caught. He was constantly in trouble as a child, even when he wasn't doing anything wrong so he gave up trying to follow the rules all the time and just did what he wanted for the most part. He's eager to meet new people and has no problem striking up a conversation with someone, no matter their age, gender or class. He doesn't understand that a man in upper class is "better than" him and sees everyone as equals. He's easily excited and loves to laugh. He's very eager to learn everything he can about magic but his main goal is exploring it on his own. As a young child, before he knew about the wizarding world, he used to pretend he was a scorcerer and played with sticks, casting "spells" on the neighbors cat.

CHARACTER HISTORY:

Donovan was born to muggles Moira and Henry McIver. His father was not rich but he worked hard to give his family everything he could. He picked up work where ever he could building houses and repairing old ones. His family was happy with the small one bedroom cottage they had because they had each other. His mother babysat and taught the neighbor children to earn a little more money. Donovan learned to read and write at a young age because he was in a group of older children all the time.

When he was four, his mother got pregnant with his little brother. She had a miscarriage and got really sick. They couldn't afford the medication to make her better and she passed away. His father began working more and more, leaving Donovan with his aunt and Moira's sister. He was given chores as he was at his aunts and she didn't waste her time teaching him anything. When he was six, his father was in an accident while working on a new building and never made it back home. He ended up living with his aunt and uncle full time. He mourned the loss of his family in his own way, by running. He ran from everything, his responcibilities, his punishments, and anyone who wanted to tell him what to do.

When he was eight, he began having accidents. Things around him were constantly breaking and weird things kept happening. It scared his aunt although he always thought it was exciting. She finally gave up on him and threw him to the streets. She didn't want his troubles anymore and didn't care that he was her sister's child. He spent a solid year on the streets where he stole and begged for food. He lived in a wooden crate with a stray dog that didn't live very long. He ended up being picked up by an orphanage who housed special children. He didn't understand what that meant at first but learned that the accidents that always surrounded him were quiet common. He learned about Hogwarts and dreamed of going for two years before it was his time.

At Hogwarts, he was always getting into trouble. He went places he wasn't allowed and even tried sneaking to Hogsmeade on the first weekend (it didn't work). He made friends easily and enjoyed his classes. He wasn't too big on homework, though and usually has to rush the night before it's due to finish.
