OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Sterling is a very thin boy. He smiles freely but will hide his emotions otherwise. He is quite strong thought he may not look it and often dresses well but doesn't put in much effort to tame his eternally messy hair.
His hair is unusually light and his skin is quite tan. His glasses often hide his very dark eyes and make his nose, which is quite large band flat, look even bigger.
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS: Sterling is very good at tying knots and archery. He is also a very good singer, and he is well practiced in ballroom and partner dancing. He can read and write in English and Chinese and likes to do both very much. He's also very stealthy and good at sneaking, slight of hand and picking pockets.
MAGICAL SKILLS: Sterling has no special magical skill though he aims to one day learn to be an animagus.
BEST/WORST CLASSES: His best classes include Transfiguration, Ancient Runes Charms, History, Potions and Herbology. And he is quite good at Defence, Astronomy and Arithmancy. He struggles sometimes with the harder aspects of his studies but is a very smart and powerful boy and strives to do his very best.
WEAKNESSES: Sterling can be recklessly impulsive and overly dramatic. He has his moods where he seeks thrill and danger and often breaks the rules. Unfortunatley he can also be arrogant and cocky, he knows hes smart and powerful and often lets that get to his head and he believes himself invincible.
STRENGTHS: Sterling very much likes to make other people happy, and as a result of this is well liked and indeed likable. He likes to make and keep friends and strives to set up a network of favors and deals around himself. He can also be very helpful and will help others whenever he can.
QUIRKS & HABITS: Sterling like sorting things, he will resort his clothes and books into orders, he will stack coins into piles if they're left a mess. He is also prone to loss of appetite, which is often the only thing that indicates he is stressed, worried or unhappy.
He likes to collect things, rocks and trinkets, he will occasionally thieve little bits and bobs to add to his ever growing collection of stuff.
OVERALL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
Sterling is usually a very well mannered young man, on occasion he can be boyish and take risks and he often takes dangerous ones - sneaking into the forest or Hogsmede for example. He's very smart, gifted even, but its not often he has much of a plan for what he will do with all his learning.
He can be closed off with his emotions, he is always happy to smile but doesn't show negative emotions like stress, anger or sadness.
He can be affectionate though not romantic and he is quite trusting but rarely honest himself.
Sterling is very sociable and also logical and observant, though he doesn't do much with this information.

PET: A cockatoo named Qiang. Qiang was sent to Sterling when he first moved to Scotland by Mrs Drummond's husband. Mr. Drummond was living and working in Australia when he fell ill and was unable to travel home. Mrs Drummond had elected to stay with her son as the trip to the Australian colony was very long and very treacherous and she risked not making it home safely. Mr. Drummond had asked that Sterling take care of his wife as he was now all the family she had. The bird was only a baby when he got it and by the time it reached him Mr. Drummond had been dead for six weeks.
CHARACTER HISTORY:
Sterling was born in China and named Li Jun Zhang by his very poor parents living in the English port town of Zhenhai. He grew up well for a poor boy. His mother was a governess before she became a mother so he and his sisters were not entirely uneducated.
He was well known and well liked in the town, especially by an elderly woman named Margaret Drummond who was living with her son away from Scotland. He was always polite and kind and liked to help people.
He was kind but he was also always arrogant and began stealing things from the rich englishmen in town. He believed they should share their wealth, taught by his father about how unfair the divide in the wealth of the people was and how the lords meant to keep the Chinese poor.
His father and mother always insisted he never steal from them, but he always did. He was never ever caught which gave him more and more confidence, and as they reaped the profits his parents became less adamant.
When Li Jun was eight an illness swept the town and his whole family fell ill. Everyone but Shu grew well again, but Shu died. Li was faring the best at the time and tried to save her, he called for help and called his parents but no one answered (his parents were both crippled by fever).
After his sister's death Li Jun's father turned to opium and his mother fell into a depression. To support his sisters Li stole more and more and more until one day he was caught. Li Jun was sentenced to death then left for three days in a prison, until he was visited by Mrs Drummond who said to him she would take him back to Scotland with her and give him a better life.
The man who caught him stealing was Mrs Drummond's son, Asher, and Margaret pleaded with her boy to save Li's life, only he was, essentially banished as Asher told Margaret he would save him if someone took him away. Margaret said she would give him her name and an Engligh name of his own, and so he was called Sterling.
Sterling never saw his family again. Mrs Drummond, to spite her vicious son disowned him and named Sterling her heir - an action which shocked the upperclassmen of wizarding society but she essentially told them to fuck off. Sterling has great love and respect for the woman though he doesn't know and can not find out how his family fare.
She was surprised to have him receive a Hogwarts letter. To this the eleven year old had simply shrugged and told her all his family have been magical as long as they could remember - just could never before afford to go to school.
Despite the fright he had as a child he slips back into old habits, though he never steals anything that he thinks would be missed. and he does his very best to not worry about his family but sometimes that worry catches him unawares.
