Arabella Catherine Burke
NAME: Arabella Catherine Burke
AGE: 18
SOCIAL CLASS: Upper-class
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single
OCCUPATION: Volunteer at Blake's Orphanage
PLAY-BY: Sarah Bolger
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
EYES: Blue
HAIR: A reddish brown
SKINTONE: Pale with a cool undertone; she will sometimes develop fleeting freckles in the summer that will be gone by winter.
HEIGHT & WEIGHT: 5'4 & 118
DISTINGUISHING MARKS: None as of yet.
OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: With a round baby-face, bright blue eyes and an easy smile, Arabella is someone easy on the eyes. She smiles easily and often. Her figure is slender from the waist up, as her hips are on the slightly larger than average size. She has a luminous face with a pale tone to it and light freckles. Small and plump, her lips have the strangest curl to them and her eyes are a misty blue. Muggle fashion is of interest to her, though the common wizard clothing of robes is not. She can often be seen wearing expensive, elaborate dresses. It has always been her opinion that she takes more after her dad in appearance than her mom, though her mom disagrees.
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS: Poetry. She is able to spin a lyrical piece that would delight in a small amount of time.
MAGICAL SKILLS: Ancient Runes and Arithmancy were her best subjects at Hogwarts; she is able to produce a corporeal Patronus and due in great part to her wand wood could more easily learn to use non-verbal spells than others.
WEAKNESSES: Envy, she envies the relationships her siblings have with their parents, having wished to be the only child so as to receive all the love and attention. In that way, she is also greedy, when it comes to relationships, wanting more than she receives. She is spiteful and has it in her mind always to take revenge for ever little slight against her person. Easily annoyed or exasperated, and sensitive to aggravation. Vanity, she believes herself to be one of the 'beauties' of the wizarding world. She is unwilling to trust easily and sometimes manipulative.
STRENGTHS: Acceptance, she has a disposition to tolerate or accept people or situations; Benevolence, Bella is prone to perform kind or charitable acts; Conscientiousness, she is highly aware of her surroundings and careful at all times; Diligent, she has always paid the proper attention to a task given to her and completed it in a timely manner; Discrete, Dutiful, Judicious, and self-aware.
QUIRKS & HABITS: Compulsively interrupts people telling stories (that she's already told) to interject facts about the story that she only knows; Achluophobia - fear of darkness, Limnophobia - fear of lakes, and Autophobia - fear of being alone; mutters spells or curses under her breath when angry; speaks softly, except when engaged in arguments; early riser; must always read a book or write in her journal before sleep; has nightmares relating to her biggest phobias; rarely passes by a mirror without checking her hair; hates when someone else is wearing the same dress/color of dress as her; loves jewelry and accessories; doesn't like fish.
OVERALL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: At school, Bella was not an exemplary student in all subjects, but she did what she was told and did not speak out unless asked to. Rare is it to see the girl as anything other than elegant. She speaks quietly, poetically. In fact, poetry seems to come as naturally to her as making hard decisions and helping in places where her help is not always wanted. Bella is sweet and caring, but not of the normal sort. She's extremely easy to distract, easily startled at sudden noises and frights, and attracted to string, flowers, and small, moving objects and animals. In her childhood, she would chase after such objects if they fled. There’s a side of her that can be very logical, and she’s proven to be an excellent problem solver when necessary. Her darker nature, because everyone possesses one, is that of spite. No crime goes unforgiven in her mind, not until she herself has exacted the punishment that she herself deems suitable. Easily made jealous, she acts behind closed doors, working to get revenge for every tiny offence.

CHARACTER HISTORY: Born in 1865, she was given the name Arabella Catherine Burke, though she's always preferred to be called Bella, something which her mother has refused to give in to. The woman has always insisted on calling her Arabella, which reminds Bella of a princess. And she's not a princess. Far from it, in fact. Princesses live in large castles with dozens of servants and have a Queen for a mother and a King for a father. There was never a moment, never a time really, in her life that she envisioned either of her parents as a Queen or King. She was always very aware of her surroundings, of the reality of her life. But just because she was not a Princess in title did not mean that she could not act like one.
When she entered the world, her father had already earned enough to purchase a home for the family rather than continue to live in the home of her maternal grandparents. For two years, she was the only child of the couple, the little princess spoiled and coddled by her parents, aunt, and uncle, though he was only seven years older than her. She cannot remember this time period, having been so young, nor the birth of her younger siblings. What she does remember is spending a great deal of time with her youngest uncle, who was more of a brother, while watching enviously as her younger brother and sister were rocked to sleep by her mother or sung a lullaby when they cried.
She was still young and the dark frightened her as well, but she didn't cry so selfishly like the twins. Instead she hide underneath her sheets, praying silently for protection from the monsters that only saw fit to roam the world when night fell. Instead of sticking to her mother, who she felt betrayed by for giving so much attention to the twins, she chose to follow her father around the household whenever he was home, sitting silently in a chair far to large for her as he read through papers and signed his name; listening as he spoke of stories from his childhood and told her how evil werewolves were. Werewolves had murdered her father's parents, after all. She had thought to ask her father if there wasn't at least one good werewolf more than once, but never did.
Her Hogwarts letter arrived on her 11th birthday, and she couldn't have been more excited to attend the magical school just like her parents before her. The first train ride to school had been a difficult one, because she had realized only after the train had rounded the bend and her family's faces had disappeared, just how much she was going to miss them all. It would only be a short while and one day she would have to leave them for good, she knew those things, but still her chest had become heavy and her eyes a bit watery as she slowly allowed her hand to fall from the window to her lap. The sorting ceremony was a blur, but she did remember quite well the shout of 'Hufflepuff' from the hat shortly after it had been placed upon her head and taking a seat at the table filled with cheery faces. She had not felt cheerful, but worried that her father would be displeased with the house she'd been sorted into.
No letter expressing his disappointment had come though, only a congratulatory note from her uncle, who had also been in Hufflepuff. She had been the one to write in the first week of classes, asking her father if he was angry at her for having been placed in Hufflepuff. The letter she'd received in return, making it clear that he was not at all angry and that he would have been pleased with whatever house she was placed in made her heart swell with joy and all the worries she'd previously had float away as if they had never existed at all. She did not find her classes to be difficult, nor was she lazy when it came to studying or completing her homework; she simply did not have an inclination for academia and had to try harder to like certain subjects.
Life was going along normally for her until the arrest of her father when she was 13. She hadn't even been allowed to see her father one last time before he was taken to Azkaban. When she asked her mother for details, she explained that the trial had purposely been a speedy one and that her father had been wrongfully convicted of crimes he did not commit. She believed her mother's words, of course, because in her mind, there was no way her father could have been such a horrid man as to be sentenced time in Azkaban. But there was nothing she could do to help him, the person she cherished the very most in the world. That bothered her a great deal and her academics suffered for a short period at Hogwarts as a result.
Her mother began to correspond more often with her and their relationship grew stronger in this time. She was the one to remind Bella that no good would come from moping, that she would be doing something to make her father happy by doing well in school and graduating; becoming the perfect young lady that her father could be proud of once he left Azkaban became her goal. The rest of her years at Hogwarts were relatively uneventful, not counting her sixth year, during which she gained her fear of lakes. One of her fellow students, a boy she had admired up until that point, had been playing a malicious prank upon a younger student bearing a low reputation because of her family. When she asked him to stop, he then turned on her, using a spell that threw her backwards into the Black Lake. She could not swim, so she certainly would have drowned if a seventh year Gryffindor had not plunged into the lake and drug her ashore.
After graduation, she did not go into a career, because it was not needed. Instead, she chose to volunteer her time at charity organizations, while also attending balls, luncheons, garden parties, and all other sorts of social functions with her Uncle Joseph's wife, Callisa, as her chaperone. She also began practicing the use of non-verbal magic, motivated by a teacher in her seventh year who had said she had the potential to become a user of such magic.
