Manuel was born in a bad neighborhood near Barcelona, just after he was born his parents got brutally murdered because they owned money to the mafia from the big city. Manuel had been staying at his grandparents’ home around that which allowed him to survive the horrible thing which happened.
Manuel’s grandparents however, didn’t wanted to raise the poor boy as they did not had the money to help him. It hadn’t taken the grandparents long to dump him at his aunt and uncle before leaving again. The life at his uncle and aunt was horrible, he wasn’t allowed to go to school, he wasn’t allowed to go out of the house alone and the worst part was that the two children of his aunt and uncle were allowed to do anything they pleased. Manuel had been stuck doing chores, cleaning the house and doing heavy work for them to be even allowed to stay around, eat and drink.
The years passed by way too quick for the young boy and he learned to read way later than one should expect from a child of his age. Of course Manuel hated them for locking him away just like he hated his parents and grandparents who dumped him here. He’d been told his parents left him just like his grandparents. He'd never been told his parents died. It had been hard, to accept he wasn’t wanted by anyone, it was hard to care for himself without making contact to anyone outside the house, yet he survived.
Manuel had always dreamed of escaping the place, he knew everyone around was poor, he knew he would have to spend his life cleaning and working for these people and he knew there was no way out but to run away when the right time would come.
After Manuel turned ten years old he finally grew tired of being bossed around which happened over the years, he was done with his uncle and aunt and he was done with everything. At night Manuel tried to escape the small house only to come to the front door where he got hit hard in the back of his head realizing too late, they knew he wanted to run away long before he even knew it.
The days after he’d first tried to run away were even more horrible than the first ten years of his life, they hit him as punishment, he got yelled at and even his nephew and niece had been yelling and bullying him for trying to run away.
Over the next two years he’d tried to leave more than once only to be stopped or locked away in the basement again and again. After Manuel had turned twelve he finally succeeded after which he ran away into the city of Barcelona where he hid, begged for food in the city and try to survive without turning an eye back to the place he had been forced to call home.
Manuel was sixteen by now, he hadn’t turned back to his aunt and uncle, he'd been living on the streets for years, seeking shelter in the weirdest places and stealing money from whoever was around that time. Running away from whatever tried to follow him, climbing buildings to escape and much more.
When the circus hit the town he thought he'd struck the jackpot, lots of people around to pickpocket of course. With the money he'd stolen he got himself a ticked for the circus, he didn't wanted to stand out too much before stating his hunt of course.
As soon as he entered the big tent he got amazed why the amount of people as well as how big the tent actually was. He'd never seen anything like that before. Softly bumping into people stealing whatever he could get his hands on he moved on, seeing where else he could strike. He was sure about at least tripling his money spend on the ticked by now.
Once his pockets were full he saw one last thing he wanted to do before leaving. He hadn't seen anything of the show but he did find the place to get behind the scene. Making sure nobody saw him he slipped into the back, quickly in one of the "trailers" of the circus, grabbing whatever he could before hearing a noise behind him, seeing a girl, slightly younger than her.
His heart skipping a beat he looked at the girl for a few seconds before jumping to the windows slipping through it only to see the girl following him. Jumping in the first tree he saw he jumped from tree to tree till he suddenly felt someone pushing him towards side of the tree making him fall on the ground. Dizzy he looked up seeing the girl vaguely in front of him and an older man besides her. The next moment he woke up he sat in one of the trailers again, a big man in front of him.
The man he saw before was here as well as the girl for some reason. They spoke a language he did not understand, the man seemed to just agree on what the other man said. The girl seemed to not like what the two older man said, they pointed a few times at him, ending in what looked like the boss speaking to him in a language he did finally understood.
It surprised him the man wasn't angry at him, but which surprised him even more was the fact that he suddenly asked about his family, what he did and how he got here. Answering the questions he got another question he did not expect, asking him to join them because he has some talent? Manuel was clearly surprised and a confused.
The couple of sentences after that hit him hard, he was willing to forgive him if he would join the acrobats? Manuel didn't even knew what an acrobat was. Though he did realize the danger he was in he quietly nodded after which he had to leave, follow the other man.
After some explanation things got more clear, he started to understand what the whole acrobat thing was and why he was invited, the man saw talent in him, which still surprised him.
The days after the circus left town he got pulled along, leaving him no choice to follow them. There was not a single chance to run or flee.
The next few weeks the man introduced as Giovanni, trainer of the acrobats, started to tell him things he should know, about the circus as well as the acrobat things. The things the man told him seemed easy, see these people as a family, don't steal from them but steal from others while doing your job.
The time passed, he worked together with the girl who found him in first instance, she was named Nayda. she was slightly younger but very talented. It was fun to work with her, she grew to be nice to him over the years, realizing he started to like her during this time.

Now twenty-four he's still together with Nayda, they have a weird relationship, though it is working fine for the both of them. She didn't wanted to marry though she still wanted to be with him. Manuel hasn't given up yet on trying to get her to marry him though he is pretty sure she doesn't want it.
