OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Darcy is rather tall for a woman, her frame could easily be described as ‘willowy’. Despite being fully grown her pale complexion combined with her long curly hair, bright blue eyes and plump pink lips give Darcy the appearance of a doll. She is beautiful in a traditional and gentle way. She looks meek and submissive, very much like her mother.
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS: Darcy is talented when it comes to making gowns, her grandmother had been a seamstress and taught her mother a little in the ways of dress making, which Aoife passed on to her daughter. Darcy is also skilled when it comes to dancing, and is passable at acrobatics work from playing with the acrobats as a child, however she never possessed enough skill or inclination to become a member of the acrobats.
MAGICAL SKILLS: Darcy had never been allowed to go to a magical school. She was taught magic by her mother and by trial and error. Because of this she is not nearly so talented at magic as people her age who attended Hogwarts or other magical schools. Her magic is practical and not at all theoretical. Darcy is also blessed with elements of The Sight, which helps her with her act in the circus of Fortune Teller.
WEAKNESSES: Darcy is unable to control her visions. She rarely speaks up to stand up for herself in front of other members of the circus, instead allowing them to think that her quiet nature is a result of her not having anything worthwhile to say.

CHARACTER HISTORY: Aoife Byrne was married to Seamus O’Connell, a boy in her travellers group when she was only fifteen years old. Seamus was nineteen years old at the time and already enjoyed drinking more than he enjoyed working. For the next four years Aoife tried without fruit to bear a child. Every time a child managed to embed itself in her belly Seamus managed to knock the child back out of her in one of his drunken rages. Once before Darcy did Aoife manage to carry a child, but one night, when Seamus was drunk he forgot that it was wrong of a man to batter his pregnant wife. Cairenn Aoife O’Donnell was born in a puddle of blood with no midwife and no one there to help her mother. When Seamus sobered up and awoke the next morning he found his wife staring blankly at the wall, tear tracks streaking her face and the babe in her arms. The child did not cry, she did not move, she did not breathe.
When Aoife was twenty two years old a child once again managed to attach itself to her insides. This time she did not wait around for Seamus to knock the child out of her. Instead she slipped a little potion into her husband’s drink. The potion was a curse. When he drank his whiskey that night he fell asleep and ne’er again woke up. Aoife took the money from his pocket and packed a few things in her bag. She left in the middle of the night so that none of the rest of the travellers would see her go. If they knew what she had done they would have killed her, with child or not.
She used the money from his pocket to pay for passage across the Irish Sea to England. It was there a few months later that a heavily pregnant Aoife met the De Lucas.

However, when she was only nine years old Darcy foretold something that she hoped and prayed was not true. She kept her mouth shut about what she had seen. But six months later an illness took her mother suddenly. One week she was fine and the next Darcy was an orphan. Only ten years old Darcy had no idea what was going to happen to her. However Giovanni, a Batchelor with no children of his own at age 45 took Darcy under his wing, looking after her as though she were his own child.
Darcy grew more and more beautiful with age, and as she grew more beautiful her ability to See became more pronounced. She took over her mother’s position of fortune teller when she turned fourteen years old. She tells people a weave of lies and occasional truths. She remains quiet, does not speak unless spoken to.
