Alethea Sinclair
"Like a princess in a tower. She was so desperate to see outside of our apartment, she thought people would be kind and happy and she just wanted to see them. Her heart was too big for the tiny box we kept her in,"- Found on Tumblr and shamelessly basing her off it.
NAME: Alethea Maia Sinclair
AGE: 14

SCHOOL YEAR: N/A
PLAY-BY: Barbara Palvin
BlOOD STATUS: Half-blood
EYES: bright blue
HAIR: dark brown
SKINTONE: pale as snow
HEIGHT & WEIGHT: 5'2' 100lbs

OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:Thea has an oval face that is surrounded by dark brown hair that flows to her hips in slight waves. Her skin is extremely pale as she hasn't been outside in ten years. Her eyes are a bright blue color that stands out against her brown hair
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS: Before she began to show signs of being magical Thea loved to listen to her mother play the piano and would sing lovely songs, some she knew and some she made up. She loved to help her mother in the garden and picked out the prettiest flowers to put in the vase at the dinner table. She has a very creative mind, something that she uses everyday to keep her entertained.
MAGICAL SKILLS: Thea is afraid of her magic and panics whenever she uses it causing destruction, this is mostly because she was never trained on how to control it or use it properly due to her not knowing about Hogwarts.
BEST/WORST CLASSES:N/A
WEAKNESSES: Thea is terrified of small spaces and the dark, and that fear, though controlled, is still crippling and the only person who can calm her down is her half brother Cory. When she is trapped in the basement for long periods of time she begins to suffer from bouts of insanity where she begins to mutter to herself, terrified that 'they' are coming for her.
STRENGTHS: Thea is very kind, well mannered, and so forgiving, someone could kill her and her last words would be I forgive you. When her imagination gets the best of her she can come up with elaborate stories that keep her entertained for hours on end, allowing her to momentarily forget that she hasn't left the house in 10 years. Reading also helps her to forget, but the basement has no Windows so she can only read when father isnt home.
QUIRKS & HABITS: Thea tends to tie her hair in knots when she is nervous, she does it more so when her sanity is hitting the breaking point, followed by her rocking back and forth and muttering things that don't make sense.
OVERALL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Thea is the sweetest girl you will ever meet, she knows nothing of the world except for what she reads in her mother's romantic novels, her favorite being Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. She longs for the day when her one true love will save her from the basement, a child's dream as she knows her parents will never allow her to leave the basement which us something they have told her on various occasions.
Thea is very lonely, her only friends are her dolls and older brother, but she is not crazy, she knows her dolls aren't real, but she does take comfort in them like one would with a friend, she also tells them all of her secrets. Like for example when she is stuck in the basements for a long period of time she comes up with escape plans, all ranging from dooable to insane, which usually ends up with her giggling and talking herself out of it because she is too afraid.
Everytime the weekend hits Thea is locked in the basement from Friday night through Monday morning, sometimes she is fine and survives the weekend without a mental break but most times she is at the beginning stages where she is muttering to herself and it takes a couple of minutes for her brother to convince her into coming upstairs, telling her that "they" aren't coming after her until she finally believes him.

CHARACTER HISTORY: On October 8th, a woman by the name of Harlow Sinclair was forceably checked into a womans Asylum at the age of 30. Her husband Warren Sinclair, had her institutionalized upon hearing his coworker and friend Kai Green swear by it, saying that when his wife began speaking about womans rights and began showing up at protests he sent her there immediately boasting that when she came back three months later she was not only "good as new" but "better" as she barley argued with him at all. A week later Warren confided in Kai about a conversation he had with his wife the night before, shamefully admiting that Harlow agreed with the women at a recent protest, about the preposterous idea that woman should have the right to vote! Kai shook his head and told Warren that its better to nip it in the butt now before its too late. That night Warren sent her away, two months later she died from a surgery she was forced into getting that supposedly targetted the part of the brain that gave women such crazy ideas about having rights. Cornelius, though too young to know what was going, on never forgave his father for watching those bad men take his mother away.
A year later he met and married a proper woman by the name of Lydia Diggory in the same white church he married his first wife in. Lydia became pregnant a year later and gave birth to Alethea Maia Sinclair who was the tiniest baby she ever saw.
Together they raised a proper young lady who did as she was told and spoke only when spoken to. She learned to play the piano thanks to her mother and sang beautiful songs by famous composers. That is until she grew bored of them and began to sing her own songs, mostly about far off adventurs where, to her fathers delight, the princess was saved by the prince and all was well.
Only all was not well. A couple of weeks after she turned four she began to show her first signs of magic. All of which was brushed off by simple explanations such as the window being left open or it was a trick of the light but soon it became too obvious to ignore. On a particularly hot summer day, the family was play outside in the backyard and little Thea stopped to take a drink of her water, a moment later it was gone and she walked up to her dad and asked for more. When the gray haird man went to take the bottle out of his daughters hand he was shocked to see it already filling with water...by magic.
Baffled the man staggered back and called her a monster believing her to be the dangerous , thinking her father was just playing Thea giggled and ran after him and when she finally reached him he struck her, picked her up in a rough manner and left her in the dark, scary basement. Scared of what could be hiding in the dark Thea stayed on the stairs and rested her head on the door wondering what she did wrong.
That night she heard her parents arguing for what seemed like forever then evetually it stopped but she still did not go to bed. Her over active imagination got the best of her and she felt as though she were being watched, but she didnt know who it was. It was a scary monster, her mind provided for her, with seven heads, scaly skin and razor sharp claws! With her back pressed against the door Thea stayed alert, waiting for the monster to attack. It didn't.
Eventually the Thea fell asleep, and at a quater passed 2 the door opened, and her big brother Cory gentally woke her up. When she opened her eyes and the light hit her face she smiled, the fear of the scary monsters washing away. Giggling Thea hugged her brother and asked if she was allowed upstairs, her brother shook his head sadly and told her he just came to see if she was alright and to give her, her dolly, blanket and a pillow before finally closing the door. For the rest if the night Thea cried as she pressed her face into her pillow.
The next day Thea was informed by her mother that all of her things were going to be moved into the basement and that she was to stay there while her father was around because he didnt want to see her any longer. Thea started to cry begging her mother to let her stay upstairs, that she would be good but then her mother slapped her and told her not to argue, that she was lucky this was all that was happening, for she talked her father out of doing worse things to her.
So for the longest time Thea didn't argue, she did as she was told and played with her dolls by the stairs, using the light by the stairs to see. She came up with these elaborate stories to pass the time, her favorite being about the ruggedly handsome pirate who set off to find some treasure, but along the way he heard of a princess who was stuck in a deep, dark cave, which was guarded by two ferocious beasts. In need of an adventure the pirate sets off to save the princess and in the end the two fall in love, his theiving ways ending and the two live happily ever after.
But after a while even her stories made her sad, for she knew she was never going to be rescued, instead she was going to die alone in this basement, never seeing the light of day again.
Her only true happy times was when her father left for work and her brother let her out of the basement so she could freshen up, eat, and "talk to some real people for once". However the doors and windows always remained shut so people couldnt peer into them and see the freak inside. When she was 6 years old she asked why the neighbors hadnt come looking for her because they all knew who she was, and her brother looked away from her and told her bitterly that their parents had informed them all that she had gotten really ill and died a couple of weeks later in her bed. Thea got depressed after that, she always believed that eventually her neighbors would realize she was gone and come rescue her, another childs dream it would seem.
Weekends were always the worst for poor Thea as they were the darkest times for her. At approximately 5 o'clock every friday her father would come for work and not go back to work until 9 o'clock Monday morning, meaning she was stuck in the basement until then with nothing but her thoughts which would eventually make her go mad with paranoia. So she always fought with her mother and brother begging and pleading for them not to make her go back in there, which resulted in many injures such as the light scares she recieved on her arm at the age of twelve. Eventually they would get her into the basment and bolt the door shut behind them so she wouldnt get out. By the end of the weekend Thea would lose track of the days, and eventually would start muttering to herself about the others watching, always watching. By thr timr Monday rolled around Thea would be a muttering mess and her brother was the only one who could talk her down and get her to eat.
Then when she was thirteen Thea heard the most wonderful news! Her brother was to be married to a lovely woman that Thea adored from a far! Cory told Thea all about her for months before they announced their engagement and Thea couldn't be happier, she even asked if she could go, a foolish question of course but even when her mother laughed and told her no Thea couldnt help but think about what it all must be like. What her dress looked like as well as the party itself. She spent hours dreaming about it until she finally realized that with then being married that meant her only best friend was gone...forever.
It has been a month and Thea, with no one to truly talk to has gotten worse and worse, taking much longer than usual for her to get out of her muttering stage on Monday mornings to the point that it will last days and Thea wonders how much more she can take before she finally breaks.
