Laila,
I wish to extend my deepest apologies for the time that has dragged on between the two of us. It must be dreadful to have entangled yourself with me and suddenly I am not there. Whatever your mother may have told you, I would ask you not to be ill with her, for this separation is my fault and mine alone and I cannot bear to think she will take the fall for my mistakes. I have been careless and reckless and my past haunts me far too greatly these days. I should never have dragged you or your family into this mess and therefor we cannot be until I am free from my nightmares. I apologize for the unclearness of this letter, but do know that I have and will always love you. I wanted to tell you in person, but I never got the chance, so I shall tell you in this letter, for it may be the last that we ever hear of each other.
Laila Stensrud, you are an amazing young woman. You are brilliant in all aspects and I would do anything for you. You have brought so much to my life. I could never return what you have done for me. Your family gave me the family I never had and your mother is a wonderful person, cherish her, forever and always. Your father is a great man and his offers to help me if needed have been ever so kind. I wish your brother well in his engagement and your other siblings a wonderful and plentiful life.
For you Laila, I wish you everything I could not give you and more. You deserve the best and I cannot do that. I want you and only you Laila Stensrud, but there's so much about me that you cannot understand. So much about me that will only hurt you. My love for you is endless, but I could never live with myself if you were hurt because of me. I ask you not to wait for me and if there does come a day where our paths cross again, I promise to whisk you away, for you will always be mine.
