OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Magnus takes in looks most after his father. They share the same blue eyes and hair colour. Only does Mangus carry it short and up. While he is still shorter than his father, he shows potential surpassing the man. Above all he is already getting boarder than his slim father. His face is almost always chilled making him look a lot calmer than he really his. The boy has a handsome face, containing a pair of blue eyes which often seem darker than they actually are. His hair is dark brown but might change a little lighter when he has been in the sun. It also lost it's wavy texture now he keeps it short, may he let it grow his father's length it would look the same. His bottom lip is slightly thicker than the upper one. And he has a sharp jawline. Despite them not being the richest, Mangus often looks well dressed. Mostly he could easily pass for a wealthy middle class boy.
NON-MAGICAL SKILLS:
Magnus has the talent to never get lost or lose sense of direction. Unlike a lot of people who first need to check if that one shop was on the right or on the left he always knows it immediately. He is good with his hands in both strength asking tasks as in gentle detail tasks. Mangus is despite his large surface(being tall and quite board) rather quick.
MAGICAL SKILLS:
Mangus may not be the greatest wizard of all time but he could be considered above average in most ways. Although he isn't very good at dueling. He often starts with using his sharp mind and predicting the opponent's move but he already quickly loses himself in throwing curses and watch them take place. May he learn to control this urge, he could be a great duelist. His flying skills are all the better. Here his temper can be fully unleashed for the good. He specializes himself in the keeper position, predicting the strategy the players use and outsmart them.
BEST/WORST CLASSES:
Best: DADA, Charms, Astronomy(he doesn't like this course but it's easy for him). Worst: Muggle Studies(just like History of Magic, he doesn't even try) , Art(he tried it to enlargen his creativity to help his father coming up with new designs but he sucks at it and so he dropped it after a year), History of Magic (he falls asleep during this class, not even his sharp mind can safe him)
WEAKNESSES:
Despite that his temper is better than his father's, he has had many violent fits now and then. He has an extremely sharp mind, and is super witty. This he often corrects people's mistakes and calls them out for being dumb. He isn't very good at keeping friends. Magnus has a talent for getting himself in trouble. His hobby includes pranks which often go too far and having people around him physically hurt. He isn't very loved among teachers. While he has a great intelligence, it isn't seen back in his grades. Magnus often feels unmotivated to show up this causing big differences between his marks. Unlike his father, he isn't that creative with objects. While the elder van Herlov can create beautiful wands, Magnus more looks at the practical side. Despite that he has some eye for detail and sees when a wand isn't well finished.
STRENGTHS:
His greatest strength is his mind. Magnus is sly and cunning, managing to gain people's trust when they first meet. However that trust is quickly broken when Magnus starts using it. Despite his lack of muse for school work, he has some ambition for the future. Only he doubts that he'd find it with what Hogwarts teaches. He can remember names, faces and places very well. He also knows when it's wise to shut up and play along. Mangus doesn't really have the nature to be brave and stand up for what's right. He rather play things smart and see where he benefits the most.
QUIRKS & HABITS:
He bites his nails when he is bored. Now and then he is seen smoking but isn't too dependent off it.
OVERALL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
This boy looks at first sight as a chilled boy who is more to himself than others. However the blueness in his eyes make him look more gentle than he is. He has seen his father kill humans before but after hearing why, he found it reasonable. Often he has helped his father butchering animals and humans for parts which could be used in the shop. In contrast to most people, Mangus doesn't feel disturbed by it. 'It's no longer alive, it's soul is gone. So it's just a lump of meat. You eat that tasty steak too right?' He'd say. He hasn't killed a human himself yet but he probably won't have much trouble with it. Magnus believes in survival of the fittest, he often challenge people in his 'pranks' to push them to their limits. All while he watches them and observes. This is why he mostly gets caught by prefects and teachers.
So people who know this side from him may mistake him for a sociopath. Which he is not, he has just a light different view on life and death. He is able to feel love and loves his parents and siblings. All though he is very mild in showing it. During the summer he spends his time working at his father's shop. He enjoys spending time with the man. They have a good relationship. Despite that, Mangus is still undecided if he wants to take over the wand shop in the future. There are both good and bad sides to it, he isn't completely sure if it is what he wants with his life.
Almost every time when someone says something, there is a witty comment ready in his head. He tries his hardest to keep his mouth shut. Most of the time he succeeds but it often makes him seem a little distance because he doesn't say much during conversations. Among family he talks easier. They are normal in his eyes and all the other kids are weird. While he has shown interests in the female body, he doesn't want a relationship. They seem troublesome to him. Too much expectations in there.
Even if he has some sinister strokes, can be hard on the weak(he feels no sympathy for them, in his eyes its' all natural selection and he knows those people won't make it) and can be violent now and then. He is not truly evil. He may not be the kindest but can be reasoned with. People would have to accept the weird and edgy but there might be a decent person there. Still that doesn't make him trust worthy. He won't easily be loyal unless both sides benefit.

CHARACTER HISTORY:
Mangus is the first born child of Angelus and Chrysanta van Helrov. After him four other children followed. The boy was born inside his parental house above the shop where he later would grow up. Already at a young age he had shown to possess a frightfully sharp mind and great intelligence. Often when he went with his mother doing the groceries he could pick out a combination of products which would save them money. He also seemed to be a walking compass, never losing track of his way.
When he was little he often played outside. Even when they lived in the dark streets of Knockturn Alley, Mangus had never felt at danger. He always stayed close to the shop and his father could often jump in may someone try anything. Besides that he was easily recognizable he was a walking miniature version of his father. And most people knew not to mess with the wand maker.
He often tried to play with kids from the same streets, but often he got his play mates hurt in the progress. Or in dangerous positions. Many parents didn’t want their kids to play with him anymore. Mangus didn’t understand why, because he never had been rude to the adults. Outside he often looked for mischief. Thus causing him to find some things which children shouldn’t see at a young age. He was very young when he was first confronted with death. He found a death decating puppy in one of the narrow streets. While at first he was scared, his father told him it was just how life went. From that day forward he wasn’t that scared of anything dead or gore.
Unlike his little sister however, he never fancied actually killing the animals and bugs. However he did not mind taking them apart so the parts could be used in wands. Magnus was only nine when he first saw his father kill another human. It would not be the last one. ‘Never make promises of deals you cannot live up to’ had he learned that day. He understood that it was the man’s own fault. Stupidity killed.
While he loves his younger siblings dearly, he isn’t as over protective as most elder brothers would be. Instead he trusts on their inner strength to stand up for themselves when needed. Despite that he has helped them many times with small things. Like he always tries to toughen up Sebastian.
When he turned eleven, his father made him his first and only wand. It was very special to him since he knew how hard the man had worked on it. If anything were to happen with it he’d snap. As soon as he started his classes at Hogwarts, he began to notice how different people were. Often he found himself in a fierce discussion about certain things. Mangus does not believe in blood purity and once wanted to prove it by cutting a pureblood boy who and himself and a muggleborn and then comparing the blood. However both other kids looked like they’d seen a ghost. The pureblood called him a freak and the muggleborn girl whimpered and tried to get away.
Mangus shrugged and didn’t understand why they were acting some strange. He’d seen blood before. He’d opened his knees many times on the streets. Some people were good at over reacting. Despite him being witty and cunning, his school grades were never good. To him the system wasn’t proving your intelligence but simply your ability to learn. Which Magnus had no motivation for.
Every summer and winter he returned home to his family. Most time he spend helping his father in his shop. Out of all family members his bond with his father is the strongest. He both sells the wands and comes alone with his father to collect materials. Despite that he has never created a wand himself yet.
At school people started to avoid him as his pranks got more dangerous with the years. Some girls would sigh and say ‘if only his personality were as handsome as his looks’. They were no longer innocent and childish but were more violent and dark. He also has been seen bullying the weak, in his mind it was just telling them that if it weren't’ for the kindness of other people they’d never survive in the wild. His most recent action has lead a first year girl into the forbidden forest and left her there alone. He’d also burned two younger boys from his house, by boiling water traps which were set above their beds. Magnus is very close to being expelled but he seems to find this somewhat amusing. He loves the idea that he left those adults almost desperate. They were not able to prevent these things from happening.
