Rules of the Roleplay
General Rules
1) This is first and foremost, a Roleplay site. Everyone on this site is here for a common interest and want. You may not "snub" people and have no reason to be afraid of rping with anyone on this site. Rping with different people is good. It's diversity, and when you've got that, you have a higher chance of rping something that you've never rped before. Now, everyone doesn't have to be "buddies" with one another, but rp your characters together, even if you don't exactly have a penchant for each other. Also, if you see an rp post that's been left ignored for a week or longer, be the kind, sweet person your grandparents think you are and reply to it. You'll make another rper smile.

2) Do not, I repeat, DO NOT start a fight with another rper. If tensions are running high between you and another rper, please count to ten and consult one of the staff before throwing harmful words at one another. The matter, no matter how large or small, can probably be resolved with the help of staff and we would much prefer that you allow us to help resolve problems between members before they escalate into something larger.
3) No power-playing, god-modding, mary-sue's/gary-stu's, etc. For those who don't know, power-playing is a member that is not part of staff taking power into their hands to correct a fellow member or message them about something they've done wrong. That is a no-no. God-modding is when an rper takes control of another rpers characters' thoughts, actions, or speech, which is also a no-no. And finally, a Mary/Gary is the term for a generic, bland character that is absolutely perfect and flawless. We do not accept such characters. Flaws makes characters beautiful; embrace them!
4) All characters must be portrayed by human images. We do not allow the use of anime characters or self-drawn portraits as face claims. Scene Queens and Kings are allowed, but please do not overload the site with them. And definitely no pictures of super popular faces on myspace or facebook. Thanks! Also, keep in mind the reserves in the face claim list and check the Wanted boards if you're having a tough time choosing a face claim. You are in no way obligated to take up a wanted character, however.
5) You must rp in 3rd person, past-tense only. Below will be examples of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person to help you notice the difference.
First Person (Wrong)
Second Person (Wrong)
Third Person (Right!)
6) Absolutely no, and we are very serious about this, racial/religious and/or any other type of discrimination between members on the site. Respect the beliefs of others or bite your tongue if you can't find it in yourself to be a decent human being. Should this behavior be seen or reported, a staff member will be dealing with the accused member and it will not be a 'slap on the wrist' situation.
7) This site is PG-17, meaning that if you are below this age, we are not going to tell you that you cannot join, but more mature threads are limited to those 17 and up. Now, you could say that you are 17 when you aren't and we might not be able to know if that's true or not. That's fine. This is just a forewarning of what you might be walking into. What we allow: the F word, allusions in a thread to sex, cursing, drug references, adult situations, violence (if you believe the thread will become out of hand, kindly place an 'M' in the thread title), mild drug/alcohol use, appropriate prejudice in rp. What we do not allow: the N word or any other real world racial slurs, Rping sexual intercourse, graphic descriptions of certain anatomy of the human body, incest (brother/sister, father/daughter, etc.).
8) We ask that you take into consideration the time period this rp is set in. All information related to the time period, such as style of clothing, common behaviors, courting, etc. can be found in the Information board.
9) We are asking that you please use proper grammar when posting. If you write one liners or use text format you will receive a warning. This is a moderate level of writing expertise site, and we expect all members to adhere to this. We are lenient when it comes to those who are new to rp, but proper sentence structure and grammar are still expected.
10) We want to keep ratios around here even. You can help by checking what types of characters you are making. If you have say, two upper-class characters, to balance it out, we'd appreciate it if your next character was middle-class or lower-class (or maybe even a creature character). We are not going to tell you that you cannot create another upper-class character but just keep in mind that if it does become too much of an issue with there being too many of a certain type of character, we'll place a ban for a period of time.
RP Rules
1) Teen pregnancy is only allowed if the female is married, or is a young prostitute. No teacher-student relationships are permitted. Females, through an arranged marriage or other, may only marry a male who is 8 years her senior starting from the age of 15. Those who are considered to be past their prime (24+), will be married to widowed men or older males (40s+) if there are no other prospects for her.
2) Child characters are allowed to be rped, but they can be no younger than the age of 5.
3) For all planning to create a lower-class character, please keep in mind that it was very rare that lower-class students attended Hogwarts and even less likely that they would stay past the first or second year, as the great majority entered with no ability to read or write. In your app, for your lower-class character, please state how it is that the character was able to attend Hogwarts. There are several possible ways, and I will list only three here: 1) Your character was awarded a scholarship by the school for being a promising young witch or wizard, 2) Your character, if below the age of 21, received the Minister's Scholarship (only one per year), 3) Your character's parents managed to save up enough money over the years to send one child to Hogwarts.
Harry Potter is the intellectual property of JK Rowling. We do not claim to own any of her ideas. Please do not steal anything from the site; this includes intellectual property (characters, etc.) belonging to members of the site. The whole staff worked hard on this site and to have our intellectual property/graphics stolen would be horribly upsetting. Now, if you'd like help from one of the staff, feel free to ask. We will gladly help you with anything you need or answer questions you might have. Thank you for taking the time to read the rules! Enjoy your time here.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. There he was, the man that had been haunting my dreams for the last few nights, standing just a few feet away from me. He took a step forward and I instinctively took one back, frightened of the wild look in his cerulean blue eyes.

Katie couldn't believe what she was seeing. Standing before her, just a few feet away, was the man that had been haunting her dreams for the last three days. As he took a step towards her, she instinctively took one backwards, the fear of the wild look in his cerulean blue eyes telling her to run.
