Their first child was Sloan Rinaldi, and Charlotte came five years later, in the spring of 1863. Charlotte always looked up to her big brother and thought he was the best thing in the world, until she got older and realized that he got everything he wanted because he was a boy, or at least that was how she saw it. She loved to play outside and get dirty and have fun, but the older she got, the more she was taught to do feminine things such as needlework and caring for the house. She always had a talent for such things, but it did not completely fulfill her.
She was also a daddy's girl from day one. She wanted to spend her time with him as much as possible, but she also grew very close to her mother. She was torn with both sides of herself, not knowing which path pulled her more. She wanted to be a wife and mother someday, but she also wanted to be an auror like her father. When she realized that this was not what was expected of little girls, it was a shock and she rebelled somewhat. Her younger sister Melanie came along when she was three years old, and though they squabbled as normal sisters did, they also became close in a way that Charlotte never had with Sloan. She loved her brother dearly, but their banter and arguing was sometimes overwhelming. She was taught at a young age to manipulate those around her, and she often used her skill on her own family members.
Charlotte loves to expand her mind through reading, though she has been told by some that it is a very masculine pasttime and she doesn't need to be filling her head with things that don't concern a woman. She generally answers such sentiments with a snide smile and then continues her reading. She loves children, but not overly so. She is awkward and uncomfortable around children for long periods of time. She is a romantic person, but she likes to keep that her little secret. She is not overly flirtatious, and she spent most of her school years actually educating herself. Gentlemen callers have been few and far between, but she will not turn them away.
