Name: Magnus van Helrov Username: Magnus Van HelrovHouse: Slytherin Year: 5th Position applying for: keeper Reason why your character should be chosen: He has a very sharp mind, knowing all the possible strategies chasers can use. By the slightest movement he can predict what they’re going to do and prevent them from scoring. He is also quick and an excellent flying. Even when he’d get knocked by a bludger he’d still manage to stay up in the air without moving from his broom. HE is a very solid defense mechanism. RP sample: Magnus avoided the team captain’s eyes. The older boy was still pissed at him for missing the last game because of a prank he cause. That stupid first year got him suspended for two weeks, causing Slytherin to lose in their last game. Now he had to make up for it. He won’t let a single ball pass him by. Magnus grumbled, he loved quidditch but he couldn’t stand being bossed by other people. However he’d just keep Gaunt at a safe distance the remaining weeks that he still was here. Magnus wouldn’t want to get kicked out of the team. The whistle went and Magnus hung between each goal, paying close attention to what the chasers were doing. ‘Ah they’re going for that one, a classic but not very smart.’ He thought to himself, knowing all the weak points of the strategy. He saw the chasers with the ball coming closer, they were pretending to be going for the highest ring but he knew they’d go for the lowest one. Then he saw a movement and speed up, blocking the lower goal and catching the quaffle. A smirk was on his face as he looked at Gaunt. “You need me.” He said as he threw the ball towards their own chasers.

Name: Sebastian Van Helrov Username: sebastian House: Slytherin Year: 2nd Position applying for: Seeker Reason why your character should be chosen: Sebastian didn't always like flying. He thought it was a very difficult task, but he has come to enjoy it very much. He has a small frame which allows him to be quick and nimble. For him, flying is way to connect with his elder brother, as well as prove that while he may not be like the other Van Helrov's, he's got enough fire in him to be success on the pitch. He also knows how to observe and wait, meaning he learns patters very easily, able to avoid those who routinely go for the seeker. RP sample: He knew he was small, he didn't need the rest of the Slytherins to point that out to him. Sebastian Van Helrov may have only been a second year student, but he knew very well what he was capable of. He'd seen the other students last year as they played Quidditch on the pitch, both winning and losing matches. He'd been very observant, learning what strategies worked best and then replicating them when he was alone so that he'd be ready for this very moment. Try outs. He stood alongside the others, waiting as a tall boy came over, asking which position they wanted. When he stopped at Sebastian, the young Slytherin gave him a steady gaze. "I want to be a seeker," he stated before he could even be asked. He was not physically strong, so trying for Beater was out of the question. Chaser seemed like a suitable idea, but he'd much rather focus on one thing and not a hundred.
He could hear the sniveling comments and jibes, but he chose to ignore them. He had a sharp tongue and could easily shut them up if he wanted, but he believed that actions spoke louder than words. As he was instructed to prove that he was capable, Sebastian picked up his broom and mounted it, waiting for the Golden Snitch the be released. He found the small object to be like himself, small and quick, and easily avoidable. He didn't hesitate to start into the air after it. He pictured in his mind that this was a match and that others were on the field. He pictured the positions that each was in, the keeper protecting the goals, the chaser making shops, the beaters sending bludgers at their opponents. He smiled, a small and rare thing for him. Speeding up he chased the Snitch, spinning and dodging, reaching out as he came in reach, grasping the object in his hand at the last moment. He looked down at the field and held up the Snitch. It didn't matter if he didn't make the team anymore, he'd caught the Snitch and that in itself was enough of an accomplishment.

Sebastian van Helrov welcome to the Slytherin team as one of the youngest seekers ever.

Post by Leander Murray on Jun 27, 2015 12:32:47 GMT -5
Name: Leander Murray Username: leovwin12 House: Gryffindor Year: 6th next term (if he doesn't get in trouble with the circus...) Position applying for: Keeper Reason why your character should be chosen: Essentially Leander is an artist, more specifically an acrobat. He has superb balance on his broom and can do all sorts of stunts on it so stretching for the Quaffle is no problem. He also has great hand-eye coordination from juggling. He might not be the greatest flyer but it suffices for the short distances between the goal posts and he has no trouble with heights. RP sample: mmeeeh, do I have to? :/ Leander couldn't quite believe he had said he'd try out as new keeper for his house team. Was he out of his mind? It took up precious time which he could be practicing for the cirus! And he could make a fool out of himself. And that he wanted to avoid at all costs. So one night he snuck down to the Quidditch pitch and mounted his wreck of a broom. It had been some time since he'd last flown, but it worked astonishingly well. He flew a few laps around the pitch before he landed and took up his balls for juggling. With three of them in his pockets he rose up to the goal posts again and started juggling, but the balls just fell rather quickly. It was too dark to see a thing! However with a charm the balls started glowing and Leander spent the rest of the night in the air, flying around and playing with his juggling balls, ducking through the goal posts until he deemed himself fit to try out and show all those losers what a real keeper could do.

Name:Crimson Bliss Username: crimson House: Gryffindor Year: 5th year Position applying for: Seeker Reason why your character should be chosen: Crim is small and agile. Ever since she was a child, she wouldn't stop flying the moment she received her first broomstick. Since they lived in the outskirts of a village mixed with Muggles, she had to practice flying underneath the trees in the small forest behind their house. Of course, she gained bruises, sprains, and fractures but this led to her easily maneuvering around twists and turns. Her (secret) ability to dance ballet was also an advantage to her being flexible and light. RP sample: Crim was pumped, it had been months since she practiced under the watchful eye of Almir, and sometimes even secretly at night. This was the big game and she couldn't help but feel the giddiness and excitement. They huddled in a circle as the Captain gave them his instructions. She gave him a wide grin and howled and cheered before moving into position. Eyes darting from left to right, she looked for the smallest hint of gold. She caught sight of it near the Ravenclaw tower, a direct contrast to the dark blue of their banner. Unfortunately, so did the other Seeker. When the whistle blew, Crim twisted her body agilely to control the broom and sped towards the Snitch.

Name: Wren Blair Username: Wren BlairHouse: Gryffindor Year: 3rd Position applying for: Chaser Reason why your character should be chosen: Wrens father is the flying teacher, she has grown up flying, she is very quick and talented on a broom and her father was a professional quidditch player so Wren feels that flying is in her blood. RP sample: This was it. All those years of practice were finally coming of use. She was actually on the team. Sure she was the new kid and she had a lot to prove, but she was fast and she could move, she was skilled when it came to throwing a quaffle. She couldn't help but feel proud when the walked out onto the pitch. All of those people were there to watch her play. Her and all the other players on the pitch, but chaser was an important role. She wanted her first goal to be spectacular. She wanted to show everyone that she was more tha just her fathers legacy. She was talented, she was strong. The whistle blew and Wren kicked off the ground and up into the air. She felt the weightlessness surround her. She was ready.

Name: Lev Rusakiov Username: @ lev House: Gryffindor Year: 7th Position applying for: (last) chaser Reason why your character should be chosen: Lev loves to work in a team. He doesn't really want to stand out but rather focus on getting things done as a group. This is why he would be a great chaser. He as much will enjoy scoring as passing it to let someone else score. Quidditch is a thing for himself, an escape from his family and being one of the forgotten children. With his team he'll feel the unity he misses at home. RP sample: Lev felt great, he just managed to tap away the quaffle from one of the Ravenclaw chasers. Now he was heading towards the enemy rings, Quidditch was one of the few battles he loved to play. To his bad luck he saw that all the Ravenclaws were defending and not making way. But near the loops, he saw his team mate, they made quick eye contact and before the opponents knew it she had the quaffle in her hands and scored. A big proud grin was on his face. All right! They were no longer behind in points.

Post by Zach Partridge Levi Lestrange on Oct 4, 2015 22:51:21 GMT -5
Name: Zacharias Patridge Levi Lestrange Username: myzach House: Slytherin Year: Sixth Year Position applying for: Captaincy aside from his Beater position Reason why your character should be chosen: Because he would try to bag the Quidditch Cup without having to 'kill' his teammates like how their ex-Captain had. Though he'd still follow the regimen and probably construct a better one from the old one, he'd have the most experience as he had been in the team since his third year. RP sample: He looked at the rest of his teammates. Zach knew better than to be a copy of his Captain as it was the last thing that the team needed. However, it didn't mean that he'd slack off from their training and drills. "I know you all know how close we were to having that Cup last year. This year, we shall make sure that we do bag that Cup! It will be gruesome but I know that together, we can beat all the others and come out on top." he told them, confident and steady as it was what a leader should be in front of his soldiers. This was war and Zach was going to make sure they would win.

Post by Octavian A. Malfoy on Dec 10, 2015 9:58:22 GMT -5
Name: Octavian Abraxas Malfoy Username: katarinar2 House: Slytherin Year: Fifth Position applying for: Chaser, captain (To make up for the inability to become Seeker, as Octavian likes the glorious positions) Reason why your character should be chosen: Octavian is athletic and ambitious, besides belonging to a prominent family. He's also fast and cunning, and tricky. Also, a bit frightening. His extremely competitive attitude will give him an edge in anything. He is a natural leader, and a brilliant strategist, the latter coming partially from being the youngest of eight, and needing to use brains rather than brawn to secure a place for himself. He will train his team hard. Gruesomely hard. While he doesn't mind the occasional foul, he'd much prefer to have a strong team that can face up to anything that the other team gives them, and Octavian is sure to train them in it. RP sample: "Now, today we've got a game to win," Octavian Malfoy stood in front of the six other players on his team. "We've gone over the strategies many, many times. They should stand no chance against us. But don't be too confident. We'll still have to work at it, but we have to pulverize them in that match. Anything less, and I won't have it. Keeper-- do not let that Quaffle in, at all. Beaters-- take out as many as you can, as often as you can. Chasers, we know what to do. Don't be afraid to do whatever it takes to get what you want, but make sure that any fouls are subtle." Octavian pulled on a pair of leather gloves, snapping them against his wrist as if to make a point. He buttoned his emerald Quidditch robes, and headed out with the rest of the team onto the pitch. Hie eyes glimmered a little in the cold air, and he waited eagerly for the match to start. He glanced at the other team, assessing them, trying to figure out their weaknesses. He wasn't about to be beaten. When Octavian did something, he would win. One way or another. The faintest bit of a smirk spread across his lips.
