Dear Oliver,
This is Lara. Remember me? My friend Grace is writing for me, as I haven't bothered to learn to do so myself. The most I can write is my name. How is school? Are you enjoying Hogwarts? What house were you sorted into? Have you learned magic yet? Grace says I'm asking too many questions and that you'll find me bothersome. I don't think she's right. At least, I hope she's not. I'm enclosing a small drawing of the flower garden behind my home I grew over this past summer. I hope it brings a smile to your face. Perhaps we'll meet again soon. Best wishes,
Lara.

Dear Lara,
Of course I remember you and I miss you dearly. Please thank Ms. Grace for me and let her know that I enjoy many questions. School is okay, but I am sure it can be better. I don't have many friends and Kellina, a girl I met over the summer is not the same house as me. I find this to be fairly disappointing. I was sorted into Ravenclaw and she was placed in Gryffindor. I want to enjoy Hogwarts, but I don't think it will work out. I am very homesick. Neither my mother nor my father have written me since my arrival and what more is that Kate and my siblings have not written me either. I fear that they no longer wish to keep contact with me. I haven't learned much magic though. I like the potions class though, it is quite fun for it reminds me of cooking. Also, I very much enjoyed your drawing and have now placed it in a safe place in my room. It made my day much better and I am glad that you have written me. How have you been?

Dear Oliver,
Grace says you're just as strange as me if you like questions that much. You're fine with that though, aren't you? I'm glad to have another person just as curious as myself. Don't worry about making friends. You're a nice little boy and I'm sure you'll have plenty soon. What is it like in Ravenclaw house? How did you get placed there instead of in Gryffindor with that girl? I don't understand the sorting process. Sorry for asking about it if it's troublesome for you.
You think they haven't written because they don't want to? You aren't very optimistic, Oliver. I wish you could be a bit more optimistic. Maybe they're all just too busy to write. Don't assume the worst first. They'll send a letter soon and perhaps it'll have some sweets with it as well. Do you like sweets? My mother's been helping me with my baking and I could send you some, if you'd like. Only I don't know what your favorite kind of sweet is.
Potions sounds like a class I would do very well in. I wish I was there with you at school right now. And I'm so happy you liked the drawing. I've been well, as usual. I met this mysterious boy in Knockturn Alley not long before you went off to Hogwarts. He was going to take my drawing, but then let me keep it. And he acts mean, but he isn't at all. Have you met anyone like that yet? I don't understand why people act like something they aren't.
Lara.

Dear Lara,
I don't mind being strange. I suppose it's not something I can change anyway. Ravenclaw is a nice house. I always find myself surrounded by people who love to read and learn like myself. It's almost refreshing to known that I don't have to hide my adventure books from my mother and father. The upperclassmen are always willing to help me out too. If I ever need a book, they know just where to look. I do enjoy Ravenclaw. Kellina is a Gryffindor because the sorting hat put her there. It has magical powers to direct each student to the place they belong. She's brave and courageous. I wonder what house you would be in. Hufflepuff maybe, you're so kind and helpful. I miss you as much as I miss my nanny Kate.
I suppose my family will send me something soon. I shall try to be optimistic. I don't often eat sweets, but they have all been quite tasty, so I guess you can surprise me with whatever you would like. I'm sure it will be delicious. I wish you were here with me too. I haven't met anyone like the boy you spoke of, but I guess most people in Knockturn act like that. Mother says it's where the worst of the worst reside. I wouldn't know for sure. If you meet him again you should ask why he is so mean. Be optimistic, like you told me.
Take care, ~Oliver K.

Dear Oliver,
I'm happy that you're upperclassmen treat you well. But aren't you brave and courageous too? I still don't understand how the sorting works. People can be kind, brave, and smart. Then where will they end up? It sounds very complicated. And I miss you as well. I haven't seen your nanny or your siblings along the streets lately. Did you receive a letter from home yet? I would like to know how they are doing.
Knockturn definitely isn't a place for sweet children to end up. But if you know your way around it, you'll do alright there. Your mother is right though. The worst kind of people linger in that alley, waiting to prey on the innocent. And I'll take your advice if you'll take mind. Deal?
I heard some people in the gift shop speaking about students being murdered at Hogwarts. Is it true? I don't read the Prophet. Father says it isn't trustworthy. Are you well? Do you want to meet in Hogsmeade? To get out of the castle. I imagine it must be quite depressing there at the moment. The package attached to this letter contains both Turkish delight and fudge. Tell me which you liked best.
Lara.
